Apple today released iTunes 4.7 which includes support for copying photos to an iPod Photo, the ability to show duplicate songs in your library, and other performance improvements.
iTunes 4.7 requires Mac OS X version 10.1.5 or later (Mac OS X version 10.3.5 is recommended). Music sharing and DVD burning require Mac OS X version 10.2.4 or later, and AAC encoding requires QuickTime 6.2 or later. To use music purchased from the iTunes Music Store in iLife ’04, you need to have QuickTime 6.5.2 and the latest iLife software updates installed. AirPort Express with AirTunes requires Mac OS X version 10.3 or later, a compatible stereo system or powered speakers, and Internet access. Some ISPs are not currently compatible with Airport Express.
So far, so good. Thankfully, my music library is intact.

Ah well – I’l have to wait for the 5g ipod with wireless connectivity and video playback…
Go move though APPLE! – moving the ipod range forward: Ipod mini. ipod and now ipod photo… what about an ‘ipod micro’ priced at �79 and can hold 1000 songs (for the bottom end flash based market or the ‘ipod video’ with 100gb hard drive, wireless and bluetooth av in and out ports!)

I’m with you guys, tho i bought the 3g in March when it was still new. I almost bought the 4g one. But i came up about $100 short. Now i am about $500 short. It sucks being poor. Steve Jobs could GIVE us all one for Christmas and not even feel it. My boss is a photographer and owns this company and he has his 60Gig iPod Photo on order already. Rich bastard! I hope he reads this and then some of us one for Christmas. Hint Hint!!! I’m dreamin’! Anyway, good luck on eBay!

That’s a fsckin’ joke, right? They’re cutting out external burners for iTunes like they did for iDVD? That can’t be right.

Well, I wouldn’t put it past them, but I think you need to read the second sentence:
“Some third-party CD-RW and DVD-RW drives may also work.”
In other words, Apple is only guaranteeing that it will work with an internal CD-RW or DVD-RW drive. If it doesn’t work with your external CD-RW or DVD-RW drive, don’t blame Apple, blame the vendor of the drive.
Of course, this just begs the question: Suppose I’m using a PC? Do I need an Apple Internal CD-RW drive? :^)

I couldn’t find this on their site anyplace, it’s just alarming. And I’d have a hard time blaming the vendor of a drive that I’ve been using without issue for six months if a software update rendered the drive unusable. I understand the need to sell new hardware, and I understand the licensing issue behind the inability to burn to an external drive from iDVD.
My concern is that this is an indication that they’re going to do something similar for other licenses necessary for basic functions like burning audio cds that people have come to expect are included in software rather than hardware.

iTunes 4.7 would not instal on my iMac.
“There were errors installing the software. Please try installing again” was the message.
Tried installing 5 or 6 times with different copies of the download. I gave up in the end and copied 4.7 from my iBook.

I tried downloading from the website but i just got a mpkg file.. which .. is a FOLDER (its supposed to be a pkg installer :@)
