From Pepsi’s site:

Hold on to your headphones people ’cause we’re about to give away a truckload of iPods. To be precise, we intend to put one iPod an hour, every hour, of every day, for 84 straight days, in somebody’s hot little hands!

For those counting at home… That’s a staggering total of 2016 iPods!!

The promotion began October 3rd, 2004 at 12:00:01 AM ET and is open to Canadian residents only. The promo ends December 25, 2004 at 11:59:59 PM ET.

  1. What??? A US company doing something nice for Canada? Did Bush do that bad in the debates? A preemptive strike on country with the worlds largest undefended border by the US? What gives?

  2. Hey, we had to sit by the wayside while you guys had your free iTMS tracks promo, which you hardly took advantage of. At least we’re getting something this time around. (Yes, I’m a Canadian living in the US right now, but I’m speaking for my brothers and sisters back home.)

  3. freeze: Yes it does suck not having an iTMS here…

TonyB: No tariff! Taxes – well that’s a different matter…

It’s about time we got an iTMS – I hope the pricing is comparable.

It is also a rarity that a large company does have a good promotion here – because there are only roughly 10% of the population as the US, we get promotions about 10% the size (U.S.: “A New Car!” Canada: “A New Bike!”)

    whew – gotta enter again…

  4. i like reading about canadians moaning about the lack of itms. its like red sox fans bitching about not winning the world series. just shut up and someday, when you’re good enough, it will happen. Until that day, go Yankeees and everyone else except cananda!

  5. *thud*

That was me falling out of my chair. Such great news. Pepsi is going to make me switch colas permanently.

Funny, but in terms of market share, Pepsi is the Apple of the carbonated beverage world (only if that world is occupied by Coke and Pepsi). ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” />

  6. Longest undefended border. Come on up. Our army, all 635 of them is in Afghanistan getting ready to chase around terrorists.

Come up, take over and do for us what you did for Japan and Germany.

Any cop shop can tell you where all the guns are.

The only casualties you will suffer will happen in the accidents your soldiers will have while learning how to drive in the winter. But don’t worry, the survivors will get free medical coverage.

  7. We want a promotion like this in Europe as well. We never get anything exciting over here.

Well maybe in France, since AppleExpo is held there, but the rest of Europe is left in a big void.

  8. There is not tax or tariff on prize winnings in Canada. One area where Canada’s tax laws are actually better than the U.S…. Lotto, Gameshows winning (and if Oprah gave cars away in Canada) they are all 100% tax free.

  9. Here’s hoping iTMS is on the way for our friends to the north! I prefer Coke, but their promotional marketing generally sucks, both at the local level and at the national and international level ( I mean really, have you looked at that rediculous cokemusic website!), so, good for Pepsi. I guess they’re trying to make up for this year’s prior debacle with the iTunes giveaway.

  10. Well, I tried to enter, and as far as I can tell, failed. Either the server is overloaded, Flash can’t keep up, or the contest is not compatible with Safari and Firefox. (It complains about Camino.)

    Mike

PS Never, ever, ever use Flash for anything. Slow. Slower. Slowest. Kind of like running VPC on my 400mHz G3 iMac.

  11. Dr. Quinn:

I don’t get it. First the US companies do something nice for Canada. And then you say you don’t care about spelling and you were not knocking the Blue Jays.

And that nordiques comment, is that humour I detect?

Dang, that was outright polite. I…i…i am getting all misty eyed…it’s been so long.

    Thanks, you made my day.

  12. Road Warrior- i was a long time nords fan. living in hartford, i know the pain of having a team torn from you. it still hurts. i support the ‘lanch, but the hurricanes can die.

back on topic- i like my ipod.
