  1. This isn’t exactly on topic, but did you ever wonder why we drive on a parkway, but park on a driveway?

On another note, what if Dubya wins, or otherwise obtains, this election? After four more miserable years, would the righties run Cheney for president?

  2. I think planes ARE crashing into buildings and there WILL be car bombings in NYC and people will CONTINUE to be kidnapped and beheaded if that moron Dumbya gets awarded the election again by the Supreme Court!

  3. designknob, if only he were just a moron. But he’s a moron whose puppet strings are pulled by the evil geniuses that brought you such bastions of the democratic process as Enron’s rape of California, Halliburton’s no-bid contracts, Neil Bush’s Silverado Savings scandal, the kidnapping of Haiti’s President Aristide, Prescott Bush’s Nazi banking scandal, selling to Saddam the very chemical weapons that were used on the Kurds, the illegal Iran-Contra arms-for-weapons scandals, the backing and subsequent kidnapping of Manuel Noriega, the October surprise, Nixon’s dirty campaign tricks (thanks Mr. Rove), and on and on.

Oh but wait, that’s still off-topic. Wal-Mart is also selling the 40-GB iPod, and that’s also out of stock.

  4. Good post Ed, I just read that article. Wouldn’t it be a hoot if Wal-Mart were to trash their current music store, but then swing a deal with Apple to bundle a Wal-Mart-branded version of iTunes with the HP iPod? Imagine that, most of the profits would still be Apple’s but Wal-Mart would have a music store that is compatible with the iPod, and would still make a few cents per song.

  5. Eric!

    you wrote:

“So, wait, you have a problem with Dubya? Would you rather have more planes crashing into buildings? Car bombings in New York? People being kidnapped and beheaded?”

    my response:

ummm, didn’t all that happen UNDER BUSH’S WATCH???? doesn’t matter who you like to blame, but all that happened UNDER BUSH’S WATCH!!!

but, oh, I get it, you’re saying that the security guard who let the thief in will be the right guard for the job still.

  6. Apple needs to come up with rebranded iTunes Music Stores so that WalMart, HMV, etc can all have their own custom music download sites and custom branded iTunes software that otherwise is iTunes.

  7. Yeah, I think that we’ll see more of this happening as groups figure out that Apple has it right. They’ll want a piece of the action without trying to compete with Apple.

Agreed, good job Ed. A very logical and thoughtful article by Bill.

  9. All one has to do is burn their Walmart DRM onto a audio cd and rip it into iTunes for the iPod.

Or they can pay a mere 11 more a song and buy it directly from iTunes and not waste cd’s.

  10. Glick7.. quiet.. it’s bad enough that Wintel guys think we’re all millionaires….

Walmart has to sell iPods. It’s funny that as a status quo music player.. it legitimizes retailers.

Imagine a shoe store that didn’t sell Nikes.

PS. Walmart will do anything for money.. just like every company on the stock market. It’s business.

  11. Congratulations to the Socialist Republic of Europe for whooping America 18 and-a-half x 9 and-a-half in the Ryder Cup! Lastest rumours suggest the U.S. is considering pulling out of all future tournaments as ‘bad for American interests’ and three of its aircraft carriers are reported heading for the ‘evil’ European empire’s waters.

  12. Americans already lost another war. This time in Iraq.

Americans are so good at starting wars that they lose ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”smile” style=”border:0;” />

  13. In further developments following the Ryder Cup humiliation – the U.S. government is planning to submit a resolution to the United Nations demanding a Europe-wide ban on all golf clubs except conventional putting irons. A spokesperson said: ‘In the interests of American security, Europe must never again allowed to stock-pile golf clubs’. Tony Blair is expected to issue a statement later today apologising for the Ryder Cup victory and pledging support of America’s desire for world peace by rulling all future contests will be played with Europeans having one arm tied behind their backs and Americans allowed their right to carry small munitions.

  14. US team players and Captain Hal Sutton behaved as gentlemen (this time) and congratulated warmly EU team.

They wholeheartedly admitting resounding defeat and put no excuse but that “the Europeans were the best golfer the whole week”.

Golfers of all world are much more sportsmen than this futile comments.

And nope, I am not American!

  15. An in another development America has now banned the use of the words ‘Golf’, ‘Europe’ & ‘Victory’ in one sentence. US Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld has denied this has anything to do with Europe’s DEMOLITION of the US in the Ryder Cup, saying “These words are used by the axis of evil. Saddam, Osama and Iran all use these words a lot when they talk about destroying America. By banning them we will win the War on Terror.”

In other news, American’s are crass, rude, big headed idiots.
