Firefox 1.0PR is the preview release of the final 1.0 version of the open-source browser from The Mozilla Organization.

200, 250 and 300 maybe…. but, I dont recall a 266
FireFox 1.0PR is only about three times faster than Safari when rendering most webpages. Apple needs get back to work to keep Safari competitive.
The first iMacs were 266Mhz.
Been using it wonderfully for a day now. Still have funky things happen when a Java applet is running and I place a tab above it, portions of the applet running underneath renders in the tab above. All in all, fast.
How about safari based in Gecko?
After down loading firefox it just opens and closes automatic in the dock. Something is not right.
I can’t get it to download. It doesn’t exist on that server.
Firefox is still quite rusty. For a quick, non Safari, Mac-esque browser that’s free, try Camino.

Firefox still looks and feels like a Windows app, I’m afraid. (Though it absolutely rocks under XP.)
I use Firefox and see a big improvement in the latest version. The bookmark bar is superior to Safari, pages load very fast and the search field on the top-right allows me to install any search engine I like. It may not have the brushed metal theme but I would hardly say that Firefox looks like a Windows app; in fact, if you do not like the default look you can easilly install another theme. I highly recommend this browser to all Mac, Windows and Linux users.

The first iMacs were G3 233s; the first generation of “colored” iMacs were G3 266s. Neither ran a 604e.
Wow this browser is so much better than Safari.
