“Computer maker Dell Inc. offered a limited time $100 rebate to Digital Jukebox music player purchasers who send in an Apple Computer Inc. iPod music player for recycling, the company said Wednesday. Dell’s 15-Gigabyte Digital Jukebox players retail for $199 and have a 20-hour battery, Dell said,” Associated Press reports. “The company did not say when the rebate offer would expire.”

From the Dell website:

Is your iPod battery starting to fade? 1. ….then I woke up….from Dell La La Land…
….sarcasm….please take my iPod, my soul for a DJ with no store worth the spit….

    Note to Dell:
Please follow HP’s lead and follow Apple.

  2. LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL

Dell never ceases to amaze me. Who in his/her right mind would trade in their sleek iPod for a clunky POS Dell DJ. I have used both and it is no comparison. Dell could offer me five DJs for free for my iPod and I would not bite.

Jump, that was a wonderful analogy.

  3. They are double the battery life(supposedly) because they are double the size.

    Oh, and they’re crap.

Oh, and I am typing this on a Dell box right now and it looks like crap.

  4. I’ll just pay the $99 and replace my battery thank you very much. My same old device is better than Dull’s new piece of sh*t.

I think the Dell executives can’t be seen buying an iPod for themselves or their families so this the best way they can think of getting one for themselves.

  5. From the Pontiac website:

Is your Mercedes starting to fade? Before you pay for a maintenance on your same old mercedes car, consider upgrading to a brand new 2004 Aztek Pontiac with over 93 cubic ft. of cargo capacity (as of 06/30/04; check websites for current information) for just $900 after $1000 mail-in rebate ($1900 before rebate). Simply purchase a Pontiac Aztek 2004 only $1900, send in your old Mercedes for recycling and well give you a $1000 rebate.

  6. Jay Rice.. hilarious! That’s what I thought!

MP3’s will work.. but.. I hate to burst Dell’s bubble… if you rip a CD in iTunes.. you get AAC files (as that audio file which can only be played on the iPod…)

No way is this offer gonna speak to the 3million people out there who love their iPods.

Lithium batteries do not last forever…

  7. Recycling?

So Dell really will be putting these iPods back into the wild? I would think they would prefer to scuttle them to improve their market share.

Still, considering they will likely get fewer than 10 takers, it really doesn’t matter.

I like that – the Dell POS is the Aztek of MP3 players. GM has already announced the Aztek will be discountined due to lack of sufficient sales.

  9. I don’t know what battery problem people are always talk about. I have the orginal iPod and I’ve never had a battery problem. I don’t know how old that makes it but it still works, I just make sure I charge it correctly. iPod for a Dell? ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” /> That made my day.

  10. I wouldn’t take a free Dell DJ plus their $100 rebate in exchange for even a broken iPod. This is a joke and it clearly shows that the DJ has been a total bust. They must have them by the thousands collecting dust in the warehouse to make an offer like this.
