For those looking for a QuickTime stream, “Apple Computer, Inc. will most likely provide a delayed webcast of its World Wide Developers Conference 2004 keynote address on Monday afternoon, sources said. Last week, sources close to Apple’s content distribution partners noted a hefty fee associated with Apple’s webcasts, especially those streamed live. Sources said the company may have chosen to save some cash by providing a delayed broadcast,” AppleInsider notes.

We’ll let you know if/when the stream appears on Apple.com and we’ll get everything around here up-to-date ASAP.

  1. As much as I find Sputnik annoying, I find it even more annoying that there are jerks on this forum who post under his pseudonym. That’s just plain bad manners, and I wish they would cut it out. Even if he has nothing original to say, have the courtesy to let him say it.

  2. Well, that was a bit boring. Maybe if we get to see the actions we could get excited, but reading text about stuff that is pretty short on details is boring. Then again, I am not a developer.

To be fair, though, I didn’t expect much from WWDC as both ThinkSecret and MacRumor pretty much spoiled the surprise. Both claimed no hardware beyond displays and showed a bit of Tiger screenshots. I put more weight to their rumors over any other sites since they have pretty good track record.

Let see if the delayed feed shows exciting stuff.

  3. Well, well, well. Looks like the Dashboard screenshots posted on MacRumors were the real thing after all. Apple pulled a fast one another developer a la Watson with Sherlock and Liteswitch with their own Cmd-Tab app switcher. This time Konfabulator gets the shaft.

  4. It seems unavoidable that Apple tabs into some of the stuff developers are into. To keep on adding things to Mac OS X means shutting down some developers or apps, because nothing Apple can come up with isn’t already out there in some form. Yet, it would seem fair to give those developers credit and some money for their concepts and visions.

  5. re: Virdian.

Bad manners? What bad manners is a Mac hater coming onto a Mac site, and telling us that we all suck and macs are bad… blah, blah, blah.

I don’t think that people making a joke at him is too terrible, so just relax.

  6. Due to the lack of anything new to comment about…

I the real Sputnik will be taking a sabbatical…

$3898.00 for a display… MS and the PC world have nothing to worry about…

  7. But I must say, Tiger seems to have a lot going for it.
the new iChat, Spotlight, QT, and and Safari are all great, and it looks like many of the other applications have at least gotten facelifts and usability improvements. I also love the amount of content Apple has managed to put up on the corporate site already.

  8. Wow – what a crappy day. Tiger really adds very little over Panther. Now they expect another $129 for some minor upgrades – mainly adding a konfabulator? Geez. What about a new ipod in aluminum with the mini-style control buttons and a better battery life? Very underwhelming WWDC.

  9. u dont like it dont buy it, jeez

it adds a whole ton of stuff if u bothered to look at the apple site ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”smile” style=”border:0;” />

  10. re: JJ

Believe me, I have ZERO use for Sputnik, but I honestly dislike people posting under others’ pseudonyms. The signal-to-noise ratio is already high enough without muddying the waters. I much prefer if folks would just flame the idiots and get it over with instead of misrepresenting them. Seems as if the art of the original insult is dying. If he is taking a sabbatical, I for one am exceedingly grateful.

  11. Tiger doesn’t add that much, Mac Beth. I mean – what is “revolutionary”? Is it revolutionary to “intorduce” us to konfabulator? Nyet! Is it “revolutionary” to have a better search method? My friends in the Kremlin say “NYET!” Also, the iChat and Safari stuff could be easily provided as updates. Gimmee a break – this is hardly a justification for $129. Perhaps 25 rubles would be more fair. And the fact that it is still many months out shows that they are slower than a bread line in Moscow! Just because Apple lists a few things on their website doesn’t mean that they are incredbile or amazing. Your logic is so superficial.I know people in the Siberian Gulag who have better reasoning than you! Obviously if I don’t like something I won’t buy it. I am just stating that this was very underwhelming. I bet you are one of those simple minded people who use elementary arguments like “America – love it or leave it” – blah blah blah. I would recommend taking a class in basic logic or reason. Good day.

  12. Next year: truly revolutionary WWDC. Apple will announce a new OS code-named: Pussy. You can insert your flash stick into the super-drive and it will use firewire to result in a crescendo-like experience that will expose’ you to a mind-blowing experience. You heard it here first.

  13. Isn’t that new searching feature going to be introduced in Longhorn???

But Microsoft can’t get it to work!

Looks like Apple stole an idea from Redmond (hence the banners at WWDC) and beat bill to it!!

LOL – I LOVE THE IT BUSINESS!!
