“Plain deduction has it that new Apple portables are imminent. The last major PowerBook introduction was the 15″ aluminum ‘Book seven months ago, at which time its 12” and 17 and siblings received speed bumps and a raft of other updates. It

Duh…no kidding…gosh…”plain deduction” says that Apple will be releasing lots of new computers in the new months…
This is news?
hahahahahahahahha PLAIN DEDUCTION.. exactly, badaboom… THIS IS NEWS…
logic suggests that apple will release new products with faster processors in the future LMFAO.. very good!!!
*Yawn*
moo…… oh, no mention of Longhorn in here. Sorry, wrong knee-jerk reaction.
Dude
Logic also suggests that the sun will set in the western sky this evening and will subsequently rise again tomorrow morning in the east.
Why the hell would anyone buy old computers with old chips ??
G4 is dead – release the G5 powerbook…
Shouldn’t the headline have been prefaced with that big-ol’-huge-honkin-in-bold-type word – “RUMOR:”?
It’s not a RUMOR it’s a well thought out piece on the state of the Mac Laptop. RTFA. Read the article.
Wait a minute… Is this going to distract Apple from the iPod & iTunes? ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”wink” style=”border:0;” />
We know the low power cunsumption G5 exists, so let’s hope for a G5 Powerbook and a Quad 3ghz PowerMac for that overbuilt, superventilated, multiple steroid fan system case that they designed. Surely they didn’t just build that case for the first round of high power consumption G5’s. Add a high end to the high end and release a Quad G5 and put that “world’s fastest computer” slogan to rest.
WWDC 2004 is where we get new stuff and lots of new stuff. Not before.
There is NAB Apr 17-22 and Drupa May 6-19 before WWDC Jun 28-Jul 2.
If something happens before WWDC it is NAB or Drupa.
Forget the other dates it is not going to happen. Apple also knows that people are desperate to get G5 PB and they will deliver.
I also agree and think the iPod mini is great, but let’s take this off the front burner for awhile and get back to the core, which is the hardware and software solution that is gonna eat Longhorn’s lunch and continue to set the standards.
“Logic also suggests that the sun will set in the western sky this evening…”
What logic ACTUALLY suggests is that the earth will continue rotating so that by the evening, the horizon eventually obscures our view of the sun. ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” />
As for new machines, my sources inside Apple have told me to expect both a Powerbook and PowerMac upgrade in the “next few weeks”.
MDN, has any of these rumors you posted panned out in an sort of short time span? No?
Stop.
I predict that when the new Powermacs are released people will be predicting when the next new macs will be released.
I also predict that when they do upgrade the PowerMac I will hold off on buying the new macs because they did not meet the rumor expectations or delivery times to meet my needs and I will wait for the next upgrade…again.
Why the hell would anyone buy old computers with old chips ??
Er, because they are actually available in the shops right now, at affordable prices, with specifications that will do the jobs you need them to do?
Here in the UK PC World recently dumped its remaining stocks of 800MHz G3 iBooks into stores and priced them to go at 500 inc. VAT. Despite shipping with just 128 meg of RAM and CD-ROM drives rather than re-writers or combos the machines flew off the shelves.
macusere7: “…800MHz G3 iBooks into stores and priced them to go at 500 inc. “
Just proves that people are idiots and will buy anything if you price it low enough.
I’m one of those “converts” or “switchers”, one who’s about to or have made the switch from PC to Mac. I’m about to purchase a powerbook G4, but if there’s gonna be a new line of powerbooks that will be out in a few weeks, I think I’ll wait for the new models or for the current ones to drop in price. I would like to believe that all rumors come from some truths, but is this on of those times? I’m already paranoid about making the leap of faith and now I read about these rumors… hmmm… what to do…
