Google Zeitgeist for January 2004 showed Mac at 3% in “Operating Systems Used to Access Google.” For the month of February 2004, Google shows Mac at 4% – the first time since March 2003 that Macintosh hit 4% in Google’s monthly Zeitgeist totals.
In February 2004, Windows XP topped the list with a whopping 46%, followed by Windows 98 at 23%, and Windows 2000 at 18%. Windows NT follows Mac with 3% and Windows 95 holds 1%.
MacDailyNews Take: One month does not a trend make, but it makes one wonder if the bottom is past and Mac use is now on the upswing.
An increase is an increase, and that’s a good word in the mac world. But let’s remember that Google is built into Safari, so this may be swaying the results a bit.
And who the hell is using Windows 95?
Very good point: Safari does skew the results a great deal! 91% vs. 4% is also still very bleak. I think Apple still has a bit to go to catch up. But increases are increases, and the more attention Apple gets, the better. ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”smile” style=”border:0;” />
Of course it’s up. There were 29 days in Feb. this year.
it the only good os they have
Safari doesn’t skew the results. It enhances the results. A Google search is a Google search now matter how it gets started.
Google only reports OS usage to the nearest percentage point, so the increase could be a movement as small as from 3.49% to 3.51%. Move along folks, nothing to see here.
It’s a rounding fluctuation. The percentage randomly increased from 3.498% to 3.501%.
Dangit. Tom hit “submit” first, so HE gets credit for that idea. I swear that’s the last time I preview ANYTHING.
There goes the neighborhood…
Like, who cares….as if this is to give people hope that more people want/use Apple computers and we should not fret that Apple is going to die next week, month, year.
Odds are some new school got a bunch of Apples and the hundreds of students went crazy accessing the internet.
These numbers of course don’t count users who “mask” their computer to have smoother surfing.
I’ve obviously just been using Google a lot last month. You wait, when I go on holiday, it’ll completely tank. ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” />
HAHHHAHA LMFAOFF!!!
I’m sure this will hit MDN soon, but now there’s or so email viruses for Winloser folks that they get infected just by reading.
They are turning off their email programs, LOL
Bitch is everyone I know is coming over to use my Mac.
Story here
Get that computer Folding!
…”And who the hell is using Windows 95?”…
Well I can admit that my old Packard Bell 486 DX still has Win95 installed. This machine has been handed over to the in-laws so that their grand children don’t fight over the one computer they do have.
That’s just me searching for more Brittany pictures.
We are so much less pathetic now, whew! I am sure glad we are at 4% now.
Let’s talk when we are at twenty.
96% are not using macs…
I thought there were supposed to be 20million apple users out there…so 4% aint much…could be all apple users are also going on internet with the pc that they also own…
I had one friend that was still using Win95 because it was “safer” in his opinion. Then the software that he was being forced to use forced him to upgrade to Win2000. Now he doesn’t say much! HAAHAHAHHHA! 😀
This is GREAT NEWS! This is a 33% increase month-to-month in the percentage of Macintosh users!
How do they know this stuff? Can anyone explain this to me in simple terms please …
All those Windows viruses and they still manage to get online – must be using Google to look for links to download new security patches … it can’t be easy – fitting surfing in between crashes, and removing adware and spyware …
