Apple iPod knocked off its pedestal – by Apple’s iPod mini

“Finally, somebody has outdone the iPod. After years of unsuccessful attempts by Creative, Dell, Rio, Samsung and others to knock Apple’s MP3 player off its pedestal, we’ve got a player that makes the iPod seem like the oversize, clunky relic it (now) is,” Rob Pegoraro writes for The Washington Post.

“That player is Apple’s iPod mini, a $249 gadget not much bigger than a cell phone. On sale starting Friday, it packs the old iPod’s virtues into a smaller, lighter, sturdier, more elegant and cheaper design,” Pegoraro writes.

“Just like its older sibling, the iPod mini stores days’ worth of music in the MP3 and AAC formats, including downloads from Apple’s iTunes Music Store. It fits in any pocket and quickly connects to any moderately new PC or Mac,” Pegoraro writes.

  1. “Macs and their users are generaly segregationists when it comes to computers.”

How so? We play quite well with other OS users (see above). OS X plays well with linux, Windows, UNIX. The only thing we ask is, don’t cross us for choosing a computer we like when you don’t know anything about Macs. Especially, when the OS you choose is Windows.

There are times we gloat simply because we try to convince others there are better OS than Windows only to be ignored and laughed at. So, when a bad thing happens (virus, worm, security holes), we take pleasure for being right. It may not be politically correct, but quite understandable.

As for the price, like they say, you get what you pay for. We like having a quality computer. We like using a well designed OS. We like the integration of the hardware, OS and softwares. We like not having to worry so much over security. For those, we are willing to pay a bit more than the cheapest PC. The funny thing is, if you compare quality for quality, features for features, Macs aren’t more expensive than PCs. That is not a negative view at all.

  2. Z’s just a rather pathetic little troll jumping for attention. It seems that he’s just copied and pasted the same message in all the recent discussions. Rather sad really. The PC kiddies that come and post here not only are completely ignorant when it comes to alternatives to their platform (unlike most of the Mac users here), they also seem incapable of actually participating in any kind of debate. Oh, and their arguments vary from the clueless to the laughable. Hey, I don’t trust a CE manufacturer to build my HiFi, so I build it myself. And to make sure they’re still not scanning my brain waves, I walk around with a tin-foil hat! You can never be too careful with these shifty electronics manufacturers!

  3. ZZZeeeeeee ! Get up here…your gonna be late for school ! Why don’t you have a girlfriend ! My goodness your almost 19 now. And another thing…why do I have all these “movies” charged to my credit card ?

  4. The Bo’ster, I think he’s more like some repeat trolls at other sites, he’s secretly using an Applescript because its more efficient than copying and pasting. He’ll return the borrowed iBook to its owner after a week and we won’t hear from him anymore. Of course, none of these trolls ever dispute the claim of using Applescript, so perhaps I’m actually right?

  5. Hehe, nice one! It could be a Mac at school as well, so he only gets to do it when he’s in the lab and the teacher’s not looking.

Of course, if he was using Applescript on any decent up-to-date Mac, he wouldn’t want to post that drivel!
