Apple’s GarageBand used to create ‘Howard Dean Yeeargh’ song

Jonathan Barlow, a web designer and grad student in St. Louis has created a song using Apple’s GarageBand and Howard Dean’s Iowa comments.

“A political spoof wasn’t really high on my list of achievements in life, but I can’t help but enjoy it a little. I think decent people really don’t crave fame – what they crave is for the things they create to receive praise. There’s a big difference, there, and that’s why this is just a little less than thrilling given the nature of what is being praised. I’m just amazed at how things have changed now that the tools for making every kind of media are in the hands of pretty much everyone. It won’t ensure a glut of quality material, but it won’t rule out a lot of quality either – a lot of people are capable of creating great things but lack the time or tools. Apple, in my case, just provided a quick way to realize the kind of thing that was running through my head the minute I realized that I could download a raw clip of Dean’s actual speech,” Barlow writes.

“I made the clip in GarageBand. I sampled the crowd noise and had that going anywhere there would have been silence. I clipped out the ‘yeaaargh’ and inserted it several times into the course of the 15 second song, the last three times with an echo effect. Other than that, I ran the rest of his speech without interruption along with the music – that’s why MSBNC was able to synch it up perfectly with the video of Dean’s remarks. Clever move on their part, really,” Barlow writes.

  1. LOL, the applications of this program are limitless. I can’t wait to get my hands on it and annoy my relatives ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” />

  2. So what are the musical equivalents to leading, kerning, tracking?! I think we are all going to learn a lot more about the technical detais of producing music than we had planned.

  3. Okay. That’s it!
I wish Hillary Clinton finally comes on stage and sends Bush were he belongs. (Mars that is)

It would be much better if Europe elects the president for the US.
Colony has clearly showed that they don’t know how to do these elections. Can’t read or write or vote.
    Right?

  4. Ok Finland.

US isn’t exactly a model country of education and restraint, and i certainly have my problems with how they do some things.
BUT they way you approach it says if you want something to change or if you just want to Troll. You trolled.

btw becha that computer you are using was invented in the US so even you can’t say it is all bad ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”smile” style=”border:0;” />

ANd should we delve back in Finnish history to find some of the less astute decisions they have made.

Didn’t think so. Remember Europe is much older than the US so some of the things they are doing now, Europe did 300 years ago

  5. Everyone knows that Finland is a poor stepchild to either Sweden or Russia, depending on which has the most juice at the time. Think frozen Alsace-Lorraine sans culture. If Euros elected American presidents half the world would still have their noses up the USSR’s butt, Finland’s the farthest.

  6. Finland,

My thoughts exactly! And no one trolled…it’s just that our president just knows how to bring out the bad side in you. What an idiot. Couldn’t stand his State of the Union.

  7. Okay okay. I am realy fed up with this Bush guy. That is the big one.
I really like my Mac (Designed by Jonathan Ive, UK) that uses Unix (kick started by Linus Thorvalds, Finland) and comes from a company called Apple (Kick started by Mike Markkula, Finland)
Apple is the best thing that comes from US ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”smile” style=”border:0;” />

You did not know that Finnish people and those that you now call native americans are related. Finnish language and the language that Inka’s uses are related. We share same original religion (Shaman) before this Christian stuff. We share the knowledge of Sauna. There are other things too and this goes back thousands of years.

So we were there first. Then game the Vikings and the the Spanish.
Okay now I am bored and play some Howard Dean with my iTunes.
Wouldn’t it be fun to have Hilary Clinton as a president though?

  8. Yes, Finland, it would be good to have Hillary as President, about as amusing as it probably would be to have Gary Cole as Govenor of California.
It would be fun, i would laugh my ass of every day, due to the sorry state of the world.

Mind you, not a big Bush fan, but neither am I a Hillary fan. *Shiver*

  9. One more thing…

What comes to Sweden. So called “Great Sweden” was created by using Finnish Army. What comes to Russians. We gave them their name=Ryss=Russia. That name is actually in old Finnish an insult. When Finland was part of Tsars Russia it was second richest area after Estonia. (Did I mention that Estonians and Finnish are related?)

Tell me why Hillary Clinton is not good?

  10. Unix has been round for long long time.
Linux turned the Unix world upside down. Linus kick started Unix in that way. Suddenly everybody talks abou Unix this Unix that.

  11. So in essence you are saying that Linus is really to blame for the ridculuous state of the computing world with this SCO trip. Without Linus there would be no Darl McBride today.
    What a better place the world would be. ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”smile” style=”border:0;” />

  12. Hillary Clinton is a lying, scheming, carbet-bagger bull dyke bitch who believes in the failed liberal policies of the past or, at least, pretends to believe in them in order to garner votes from the ignorant. Otherwise, Hillary is wonderful.
