Virginia Tech Power Mac G5 supercomputer cluster will aim for top five most powerful rank

“The Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University is building a supercomputer cluster comprising 1,100 [dual 2GHz] Power Mac G5s, after several months of collaboration with Apple,” reports Simon Aughton for PCPro.com.

Aughton reports, “When complete, the cluster will be one of the five most powerful in the world, as listed by the Top 500 website. It will be the only Mac-based cluster in the list.”
