EISA: iPod the ‘standard-bearer for the future of Internet music’

“iPod has received the accolade of best Internet Audio Device in European Imaging and Sound Association’s (EISA) annual awards,” reports MacWorld. EISA credit the iPod as: ‘A standard-bearer for the future of Internet music.'”

“The iPod received the award based on the success of Apple’s iTunes Music Store, described as: ‘The first successful paid-for Internet music service.’ The Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) codec, employed by the store and the iPod, is also highlighted. AAC is described as: ‘Superior’ and ‘Giving better sound quality for a given data rate,'” MacWorld reports.
