In Armagetron, you ride a lightcycle around the game grid. You can only make sharp turns of 90 degrees and a wall constantly builds up after you. Think Tron. Make your enemies crash into your wall, but be aware that they are trying to do the same to you. Only if you are fast enough, you may be able to trap them; but the only way to speed up your lightcycle is to drive close to the dangerous walls. Prepare for exciting strategic preparations followed by action-packed close combat!

After tweaking the GLTron settings, it’s very cool. But this one with the speed factor sounds clever–I’ll have to try it.
I’ve been using it for a couple of days… I can tell you, its fantastic. True to the film in play and aesthetics… The most compelling feature though, is network play. Logging in to one of the servers and racing against folks, potentially from all over the world is hands down the most interesting component of this lightcycle clone. It’s almost surreal how the virtual areana in the movie has become a reality.
The only problem I have with it is occasional “lag”. You occasionally crash into a wall that your connection has not updated you on fast enough…but its not that big a deal and you learn to play around it. I highly recommned this app, even if your on a modem at home. It works great even on 56k, and its FREE!!!! Kudos to the author!!!!
