Jupiter Research predicts online music sales to hit $3.3 billion within five years

“While Jupiter Research expects total music sales to remain flat over the next five years, the online portion of the market will continue to expand, reaching $3.3 billion in revenue by 2008. Physical formats continue to drive much of the industry but they are losing market share to a la carte music downloads and music subscription services. By 2008, one out of every two dollars spent online will be spent on digital music,” reports Jupiter Research’s Lead Analyst Lee Black.

The market leader, in good position to capture major part of US music download market, is Apple Computer’s iTunes Music Store.
