Freeware VLC for Mac OS X updated to 0.6.1; plays multimedia QuickTime might not

VLC (initially VideoLAN Client) is a freeware multimedia player for various audio and video formats (MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX, mp3, ogg, …) as well as DVDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols. It can also be used as a server to stream in unicast or multicast in IPv4 or IPv6 on a high-bandwidth network.

VLC 0.6.1 is an update for Mac OS X that brings improved vorbis and mp3 audio support for the transcoding module, a new subtitle module, improved HTTP remote control interface, improved PS muxer, and other changes.

  1. I love this app. It just gets better each time. But it still needs work when trying to go to a specific part of the video file. It always jumps back a few seconds from where I want to go.
