“Apple Computer said it has nabbed the exclusive U.S. rights to distribute the soundtrack to 20th Century Fox’s “The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.” Apple is selling the album for $9.99 as an online download, with no physical CDs being made for the U.S. market. The soundtrack includes a score by composer Trevor Jones and features performances by the London Symphony Orchestra and Ladysmith Black Mambazo,” reports Ina Fried, Staff Writer, CNET News.com.

For some reason or another, I doubt 20th century fox would do that, if iTMS will be limited to the mac platform. So I guess the windows iTMS is coming “real soon now”
I have to be skeptical also.
A few weeks ago there announcements that iTMS had exclusive tracks for THE HULK soundtrack. Later, after the dust cloud settled, it was ONE exclusive track, exclusively on iTMS. Perhaps this is the same deal.
BTW.. Trevor Jones is a great composer (co-composed Last of the Mohicans, a top ten all time score). I hope I can download the entire album
Let’s not forget that this movie, even though it has a few star actors, isn’t exactly blockbuster material. Yes, it’s not exactly on the level of a Friday the 13th part 24, but it sure isn’t a Finding Nemo or Spiderman.
It’s not so surprising then that they got such a deal.
Has anyone seen the previous for this what appears to be a giant flopping, steaming stinking turd of a movie? I’d have no problem believing that SONY has gotten the test audience cards in, and has realized that it is only going to be taking a bath by shipping physical cds.
I take it all back (skeptical about iTMS going exclusive on whole album). I downloaded the album an hour ago and am a happy customer.
This whole thing is hard to explain. Lets define the difference between a Soundtrack and a Original Score. A “soundtrack” is normally a set of pop songs which are played during scenes in a movie. They are not normally original content.
An “original score” is the orchestrated music developed just for the film.
Some films release BOTH a Soundtrack and an Original Score (e.g. Forrest Gump, Message in a Bottle)
Most people want the pop songs and buy the soundtrack if they liked the music. This is an original score album by composer Trevor Jones. As such it is not mainstream unless you like original scores (like me). I still can’t believe they won’t release this on CD like all the other Trevor Jones scores (Thirteen Days, Merlin, Last of the Mohicans, etc.)
