“Vivendi Universal director Claude Bebear denied on Wednesday he had made any comment on the status of talks with Apple Computer Inc., after he was quoted in a report as saying Apple may offer $6 billion bid for its music arm. News agency Bloomberg quoted Bebear in an interview as saying that U.S. computer maker Apple would ‘probably make an offer for the music business for about $6 billion.’ According to the Bloomberg interview, Bebear said any offer pitched at around $6 billion would be ‘a bit low.’ ‘Regarding a report by Bloomberg, Claude Bebear denies having given a view on any negotiations which may be underway,’ a spokesman said, reading a statement given to him by Bebear. ‘He believes that as a director it is not up to him to make such a declaration,’ the spokesman added. A Bloomberg spokeswoman in New York said the news agency was standing by its story,” reports Reuters. Full story here.
