The study is the first comprehensive review of the 61,195 “undervote” ballots that were at the center of Florida’s disputed presidential election.”

The quote about Bush winning a recount is techincally correct, but basically wrong. If ONLY the disputed counties had been recount, Bush would have won. If ALL of Florida had been recounted (as the Florida Supreme Court ordered) Gore would have won according to the same study.
To repeat only a selected little bit of the truth, is to lie.
Bush may have won Florida… only Jeb Bush knows for sure…., But he DID NOT win the popular vote… A sad systematic problem created by the antiquated Electoral College…

Yes, Gore won the popular vote, but we don’t elect presidents according to the popular vote. If you have a problem with it, write your congressman. None of which tried to change the electoral college system after the election, I might add. I am finished, and I hope this subject is finished as well.

In the wake of Apple’s announcement that former Vice President Al Gore was elected to the company’s board of directors, President George Bush announced this morning that he would demand a recount.
“I am sure that when the votes are tallied again,” Bush press secretary Ari Fleischer said, “Apple will find that President Bush was, in fact, named to the board, not Mr. Gore.”
You do have to wonder about the wisdom of appointing Gore to the board.
Jobs just alienated half the country and put his personal politics ahead of the shareholders.

First off, the writer obviously doesn’t listen to Rush. His web editorial was totally tongue in cheek. I’m sure he doesn’t really give a fig whether Algore is on the board or not as long as the Apple hardware maintains it’s high standards.
As for Al on the board; what qualifications does this guy have? He’s never had squat to do with a for profit enterprise. The execs running the business have put symbolism over substance in making this decision. This is more telling regarding their competence than Al Gore’s.

Yes, anyone who has listened to Rush knows he WOULD NEVER take a cheap shot at anyone. Haven’t heard him utter his “assumed room temperature” line much since a caller threw it back in his face when his own father died.
I suspect that Algore brings his connections to the educational community as a means to shore up the educational sales efforts. A good try. However, Al’s lack of truthfulness (read lies and distortions – for a “good time” do a google search on “al gore lies”), vicious personal vitriol unfortunately taints Apple.
Hey guys….let’s give Vice President Albert Gore his due. If Limbaugh and other thugs can love there Mac’s why can’t Mr.Gore? He is bright and served as VP for 8 full years. I think that he will do a great job with the other board members all with the samew goal-move the mac forward!
Apple has survived only because of Mr. Jobs leadership, and he is very close personal friends with former Presdient Bill Clinton.

You’re missing the point. Although I’m a dangerous right-winger and listen to Rush every day, I’d certainly think it wouldn’t be wise for Apple to elect a prominent Republican, particularly a controversial one, to the board.
If you really look at this through the eyes of what’s best for Apple, I’d think you would agree. There’s nothing to be gained by alienating half of your potential marketplace.
Apple has less than 20 sales people contyry wide selling in the Federal space. Do you really think having a beltway bandit on the Apple board is going to change Apple’s federal toe nail print with the government? Let Al have a little fun and get that 25% Apple discount. It can’t hurt sales anymore than Apple sales preventative team is doing now.
Apple has the right to hire anyone they want. Why is our former President Controversial ? Perhaps former board member Mr. larry Ellison is also a very controversial outspoken man.
