What used to read:
“Unlike most personal computers that run on the Microsoft Windows operating system, Apple computers are based on a proprietary Macintosh platform.” (Full story)
Now reads:
“Unlike most personal computers that run on the Microsoft Windows operating system, Apple computers are based on the Macintosh platform.” (Full story)
Whether we helped or not with this story earlier today, we’re glad that sentence has been changed by Reuters.
Congrats, MDN! I’d say it WAS you who helped Reuters get it right! These Reuters feeds are picked up worldwide and that change makes a difference.
Good job MacDailyNews and all who emailed Reuters!
A lowly know-nothing neo-journalist or intern wrote the blurb. Most of the time they type in whatever they half-heard just to fill space. You can tell by the use of “proprietary”. Maybe their father’s friend used that word at the cocktail party but the kid didn’t get the context because they were too busy sneaking wine.
Last story I heard involving the word “proprietary” was a friend, in a new media shop, who wanted to use Quark XPress to do document layout rather than MS Word and the management said, “We don’t think it’s a good idea to use proprietary software.”
Ubiquity.
