Report states Apple Macintosh remains number one in U.S. schools

“Macintosh is the single most common brand of instructional computer in schools today,” according to the report “Technology Purchasing Forecast 2002-2003, 8th edition,” released November 15, 2002, from Quality Education Data, Inc., a leading education market research and database firm. Apple’s Mac comprises 33% of the installed base in schools. The next closest competitor is Dell Computer “with an estimated 18% of the installed base.” The reports also states that, “Dell is also the leading brand in district plans to purchase instructional computers for the 2002-2003 school year, with a 35% share, beating out Apple’s Macintosh brand (21%) for the lead.” More here.
