Apple CFO reports 40 percent of retail store buyers new to Mac

In a phone interview, as reported by Reuters, Chief Financial Officer, Fred Anderson said Apple held its share in the education market in its fiscal fourth quarter and that the weak market had not deteriorated further in the quarter. He also said that Apple had seen some success in its retail stores, winning users of… Windows-powered computers to its Macintosh line. Apple-owned retail store sales rose to $102 million in the quarter from $63 million the previous quarter, and 40 percent of the Macintoshes, measured by processors, were bought by users new to the Mac platform, Anderson told Reuters.
