Will Motorola’s Apple iTunes phone make it to market?
Monday, March 28, 2005 - 03:59 PM EST

"It's been the great 'Whodunit' of two big technology shows: Who put the gag in Motorola's mouth just as it was going to unveil a new cellphone featuring the iTunes music-download service from Apple Computer? Motorola initially said it acted alone and quickly pointed to Apple, citing the computer company's long practice of never unveiling new products until they're available to buy," Bruce Meyerson writes for The Associated Press.

"Many industry players, however, suspect a wireless-service provider intervened, essentially telling Motorola, 'I'll be darned if I'll sell your phones to my customers if it means they can buy songs through Apple and Motorola without giving me a piece of the pie,'" Meyerson writes. "Or, some surmise, perhaps a wireless carrier that planned to offer the iTunes phone balked at the last minute?"

it would not take much to add a phone to the current iPod or iPod Shuffle. Why wait for Motorola if they are afraid of the carriers.
