Time’s “Gadget Guy,” Wilson Rothman, highlights his eight favorites (above) here.
[Thanks to MacDailyNews Reader “snowy” for the heads up.]
one two… go go go!
you know what to do:
Nintendo DS Lite
(49%)
Apple MacBook Pro
(16%)
Hop to it!
I’ve got to say, I think Nintendo has earned this one.
The vote is cast!
The voting page of the site works very poorly with Safari but quite well with Internet Explorer 5.2. If the MacBook Pro wins, it will have overcome great odds!
Paul Johnson. You’re not kidding. Man, that sucks.
Same problem with Firefox.
Can’t vote, page won’t load. oh well guess enough others can.
ahh, this brings back MDN memories…
good times
Let the games begin!
Todays match is starring between the two biggest Fanboys around:
Mac Fanboys (Codename: Zealot) vs. Nintendo Fanboys (Codename: Nerd)
lets see who wins…
(my bets are on the Nerds, but wth, i voted for the MacBook Pro anyway) ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”raspberry” style=”border:0;” />
What about the plain ol’ MacBook? It’s more of a new design.
i hope the next match is starring between the other two Fanboy groups:
Microsoft Fanboys (Codename: Dorks) vs. Sony Fanboys (Codename: Believers)
in an extraterrestiral shootout between the XBOX 360 (hey you smell burned plastic?) and the PS3 (Vaporware) ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”smile” style=”border:0;” />
greets from zero
Shuffle.
DS Lite
wi-fi, touch screen, microphone (used to good effect in some games, dual screen.
about 150 Canadian. Nifty
This is going to become Apple vs. Nintendo: Nintendo sites know about it too.

Yes, but I’m an Apple fan. Any fair-minded Apple fan will concede that the MacBook Pro was not the gadget of the year. I have to hand it to Nintendo.
This one’s easy. I’m writing in the Zune!
C’mon. The Nintendo DS is a piece of crap compared to the PSP. Terrible, clunky design.
Once you watch an H264 vid on the PSP, there’s just no going back. It’s gorgeous.
No question: Nike+ iPod Kit. MacBooks are nice, but I don’t think any laptop really qualify for “gadget” status. About the only ingenious/novel thing on the MacBook is the built-in camera.
What is your favorite gadget of 2006 (with current results)?
What a survey to have on US Election Day!
My pick? Diebold electronic voting machines.
Oh and be sure to send your incumbents some protection money, er I mean “campaign contributions”. The day is coming when you won’t be able to get rid of us.
MW: year. As in 2006 or 2008?
I almost voted for the MacBook Pro until I remembered what DS Lite stood for. Let’s face it people, a vote for the MacBook Pro is a vote for Al-Qaeda. You want us getting hit with terrorist attacks once a week? That’s what we’ll get if we usher in MacBook Pro’s San Francisco values. MacBook Pro doesn’t even have a plan for Iraq. You can’t beat the insurgency with harsh criticism.
We haven’t been hit since 9/11. Vote DS Lite.

I think the iMac Intel Core Duo was more ground breaking than the Macbook Pro or any other items on this list. I don’t care how big it is, it’s my favorite gadget.
I find it rather odd that the new shuffle/clip isn’t mentioned. And BTW, what’s up with my beloved “Rhinestone Scrolling Pink Digital Belt Buckle” ? ( ) http://www.2bhipbuckles.com/product/LED5R
I’m as big a Mac fan as anyone here, but clearly the MacBook Pro shouldn’t even be in the running here. Maybe the MacBook, but honestly when I think “Gadget” I don’t think laptop.
I voted for the DS Lite.
If you’re having problems with Safari (I know I did), just turn off the ‘Block Pop-up Windows’ for the voting page. All will be fine. That being said, what the hell is this Nintendo device? Is it something anyone over the age of 15 would know about…?
The DS Lite just got my vote too for the “gadget” of the year. I probably would have voted for Apple if we were voting for the “widget” of the year.
Peace.
Go Nerds!
