Steve Jobs and Apple designer Jonathan Ive in London; revealed Apple Store to open in Paris by 2007
Wednesday, May 25, 2005 - 12:21 PM EDT

"Apple CEO Steve Jobs and his design guru Jonathan Ive are in London. Jobs visited the Apple Store on London's Regent Street yesterday and revealed that the company plans to open a retail store in Paris by 2007," Macworld UK reports. "Jobs and Apple's head of industrial design Jonathan Ive spoke with MacPlus (a French Mac Web site) yesterday. But the real reason for their stay in London this week is to attend the D&AD Awards at Old Billingsgate. The two will join 1,800 guests at the annual celebration of design excellence."

NEWS FLASH

Steve Jobs wakes up in the morning, brushes his teeth, has some breakfast, and does some other stuff.

Which is to say, "This is a slow news day."

What the French don't realise is Apple just misunderstood Enderle's suggestion and leased space inside the Hilton girl....

I heard they're having an affair. That's the rumor and I'm doing my part to spread it.

I think it's a joke, really.
MacPlus.net is not a big player you know.

Does this conversation seem real to you ?

"hey Steve, congratulations for this wonderful place ! -Thank you ! -I'm from France, you know... you should open a store in Paris ! -We are, in 2007 ! -Well, that's great, thanks Steve, Bye !"

Steve would never do the thing he hates most in the world...
Which is... tell his company secrets... to a complete stranger.

What's more, (as read in another forum), it is too improbable that Paris is to wait that long for an AppleStore. London has 2, Japan has 2, Canada has 1, South Africa is to get a couple this year...

Off topic sort of, but you should have seen how packed the Apple store in Toronto is! I was in Yorkdale mall today...mall practicallly empty, then I found the Apple store...jam packed...could barely move around! And its been open for a week now! Good for you apple!

London doesn't have two Apple Stores - just the one on Regent Street.

The other two UK stores are in Bluewater (a large shopping centre or mall in North American talk 30 miles from London), and in Birmingham. I'm not sure that either are open yet.

2007? That sounds like a Microsoft announcement...

Agreed.. that sounds like a Microsoft launch.

2007 sounds like they are waiting for a particular location to become available, just like they did with Regent St.

BTW, Steve, Birmingham opened the same day Tiger shipped, which is possibly why it didn't get much coverage on the Mac web.

Pete,

Right on. I was at the opening and other stores in the mall were like "Are they giving computers away ?" They had never seen such a crowd waiting in line to get to a store.
I was at the opening - #60 in line. It seems around 1500-2000 people were in line late in the morning. I posted photos at http://www.homepage.mac.com/iyann
There are short videos too of entering the store (which is something...)

Steve, sorry. 1 store in London.

I still don't believe Steve Jobs revealed a stranger the opening date of Paris AppleStore.
