Apple’s Fifth Avenue ‘Glass Cube’ retail store grand opening on May 6 in New York City
Thursday, April 27, 2006 - 08:48 AM EST

"Apple has revealed the actual grand opening date for the Fifth Avenue (NYC) retail store," according to a report from ifoAppleStore. The Grand opening of the new flagship store, which will be open 24/7, is Saturday, May 6th at 10am EDT. Apple does not have the store or the reported grand opening on their retail store web pages currently.

The store, which will reportedly be 25,000 square feet, is located in the underground retail plaza of the General Motors Building on Fifth Avenue and is Apple's first to be open 24 hours per day, 7 days a week.

Aww crap... I'll still be in Grenada then. I won't get home till the 11th. Anyway I can get them to push it back by say a week?

I've never had trouble getting pizza in NYC regardless of the time of day or night. And I can see them having a steady stream of customers 24/7.

The best part is in terms of the Genius Bar, being able to go in late night will be a boon for many a person and can only help to ease the service during more traditional hours.

Finding pizza in Manhattan is as easy as picking up aids in Greenwich Village.

You can find pizza anytime of day or night in Manhattan, a hundred times more likely than picking up AIDS in Greenwich Village.

24/7 could be helpful for those NY design firms pulling an all-nighter that suddenly need extra hardware or accessories. Not everyone keeps spares and back-ups (as they should).

This should be a boon for business. Very classy.

Off topic, maybe, but on Amazon's top seller list for desktop computers 2 of the top ten are books to help Winblows users figure out how to use the arcane mess of an OS and deal with its Swiss-cheese security holes. Sad, really sad.

Anyone else think Apple should scrap it's (Boston, MA) Boylston Street Store idea and open one on Mass Ave and Newbury St. in the soon to be vacant Virgin Record Store... would kind of be ironic... out with the old (plastic media) in with the new (digital media). The location would be great "... the landmark Frank Gehry building where luxury condominiums are opening this fall..." - Boston Globe: MacDailyNews

So for everyone who thought the 24 hour idea was never gonna fly, in the immortal words of Sister Soulja--- f*sk all y'all.
