Apple today released iTunes 4.6. iTunes 4.6 includes support for playing your music wirelessly using AirPort Express with AirTunes. It also includes “a number of other minor enhancements,” according to Apple’s notes.
iTunes 4.6 requires Mac OS X version 10.1.5 or later (Mac OS X version 10.3.4 is recommended). Music sharing and DVD burning require Mac OS X version 10.2.4 or later, and AAC encoding requires QuickTime 6.2 or later. AirPort Express with AirTunes requires Mac OS X version 10.3 or later. To use music purchased from the iTunes Music Store in iLife ’04, you need to have QuickTime 6.5.1 and the latest iLife software updates installed. 256 MB RAM is recommended.
Make sure you have the latest update of Mac OS X, QuickTime, and iLife. Get the latest update by choosing Apple menu > System Preferences, then clicking Software Update, and then Update Now or Check Now. After you install an update, it’s a good idea to click Update Now or Check Now again to make sure you’ve gotten all the latest versions. To create audio or MP3 CDs with iTunes, you need an internal Apple CD-RW drive. To back up your music to a DVD, you need an internal Apple SuperDrive. Some third-party CD-RW and DVD-RW drives may also work.
If you plan to listen to music previews or buy music from the iTunes Music Store, a DSL, cable modem, or local area network (LAN) Internet connection is recommended.

Cool.
What are the other enhancements? I don’t notice any difference whatsoever, although granted, I haven’t had much time to play with it yet. I’m guessing you have to have the Airport Express hooked up to see any difference there.
I think I will stick with…

What happens when your G5 springs a leak?

the new windows media player beta sucks, its really buggy and the interface already looks dated. Too many options that people dont really want.

I think you are stuck with WMP.
What happens when your OS gets one of over 90,000 pieces of maleware with over 900 new ones per month?

How does that work for the Windows version?
Taylor T.
Punctuation is your friend. Learn to embrace it.
Well one of the new features i Lossless encoding in half the byte size of regular lossless Wav/Aiff
Argh spellcheck, cant even freaking spell my own name.
And that is supposed to be *is Lossless.
I hate my work piece of dell crap.
I think Taylor T. is actually one of the Speed Racer voice actors. Say his text in the voice of Spridle…..
You have got it my english skills suck but i can remember all the laws of coding and such sadly.
Apple Lossless Encoding was introduced in 4.5, Rasmus, so it looks like the only new feature in 4.6 is the AirTunes thing… of course, I could be wrong…
iTunes 4.6 should be my gateway to iTMS European nirvana next week if the rumours are true! : )

I think, based on my knowledge of Shuttle coolers and the picture of the g5 cooler, that the “liquid” in the cooler isn’t water. Imagine an air conditioning loop instead of a car radiator.
Stop it Steve. I can’t process all these new releases this week.
I am now looping my entire Karen Carpenter and Judy Collins collection through my iTunes here at work. Co-workers are getting antsy and noticeably agitated. One may crack at any second. Very pleased. Take that, you Matchbox Avril Aguilera listening mu fukkas! As Judy Collins would say, HERE COME THE FRIGGIN’ CLOWNS!!!!
Re: Other enhancements
1. It seems to load faster.
2. AirTunes MUST be burning Billy’s ass. Something so good, and it’s not even on his “Crap to do within the next 10 years” list.
I wonder if this water cooling thing has anything to do with that company cooligy that I believe I heard Apple was working with. I thought that was for laptops though…..
I am gonna get an Aiport express for the wireless bridge range extension but will set it up for streaming too of course.
Back to topic her folks….so where is the AirTunes thing? I tried looking for it. It isn’t even in itunes help.
Taylor T. also appears to be a James Joyce fun, I mean fan.
Karen Carpenter could sing her skinny ass off.
It won’t play any m4p files you created to m4a. It’s a simple trick though.
Change the gId in the file to something else.
I hate to talk about the topic ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”smile” style=”border:0;” />
Lets talk for change about war criminals George Bush, Donald Rumsfeld and Ariel Sharon.
We should take them in to Nrnberg and give what they deserve.
Isnt strange that americans spend billions to find out if Clinton lied about having cigarsex with another woman? In France it is obligatory for the president to know how to get the right cigar humidity and also be able to have sex with as many as possible. Who wants impotent or frigid president anyhow?
Now no one is interested about that Bush ordered illegal war, torture and killing of prisoners and lied everything about it. Where is Kenneth Starr when you need him?
Something about iTunes 4.6.. It is now ready for iTMS world?
Please stay in Finland and worry about your own problems. Just like Apple, The US is on the verge of dying because of the horrible descisions of it’s leaders. Poor pitiful Americans, the lot of us.
