Apple posts Mac trailer for QUAKE 4
Friday, July 07, 2006 - 04:15 PM EDT

Aspyr Media, Inc., today announced a Mac trailer for QUAKE 4 has been posted to Apple's Web site, http://www.apple.com/games/trailers/quake4/

QUAKE 4 runs natively on both PowerPC- and Intel-based Macintosh computers.

The long-awaited sequel to QUAKE II, QUAKE 4 enlists gamers in the role of Matthew Kane, a member of the legendary Rhino Squad, to penetrate deep into the heart of the Strogg war machine and engage in a series of heroic missions to destroy the barbaric alien race. QUAKE 4 begins only moments after the events of QUAKE II, with the Earth's fleet launching a massive offensive to the planet Stroggos. As Matthew Kane, gamers invade the alien stronghold, fighting alone, along side other Marines, and in mechanized walkers and hover tanks as they encounter the Strogg and their disturbing amalgamations of man and machine. Built on id Software’s revolutionary DOOM 3 technology, QUAKE 4 also features fast-paced multiplayer competition modeled after the speed, style and feel of QUAKE III Arena.

The game is rated "M" for "Mature" by the ESRB. QUAKE 4 is available now for $49.99 through Aspyr’s Website, http://www.aspyr.com/games.php/mac/quake4/

Forgive me for being an ignorant non-gamer, but "sequel to QUAKE II"? What happened to Quake 3?

Jul 07, 06 - 05:20 pm Comment from: LordRobin

Oh, never mind. Must have something to do with the "plot". Pfft.

Jul 07, 06 - 05:35 pm Comment from: Nick

LordRobin:
Quake 3 was (oddly) not a sequel to Quake II in that it had no single-player storyline to play through. Quake 4 is a continuation of the single-player storyline of Quake II.

R:
according to http://barefeats.com/kak4c.html, Quake 4 runs about the same in Windows or Mac. The thing is, in Windows you can overclock your video card easily.

Trailer?

Heck I've played Quake4 through several times already.

Sales must be slow.

Quake3 Arena is like UT2004, runs extremely fast on most Mac's too. Frighteningly so.

Want a good 3D game to challenge your mind and looks awesome too?

Yea, better be careful, there isn't much of a selection of replacement cards out there in case you burn it up.

AGP cards there is the ATI X800, PCI cards you better not play around.

The 3D graphics in that game looks about as good as Marathon 1 smile
Marathon is still the best game I've ever played, best story by far!

i play world of warcraft (wow) but i used to play arena (quake 3) about 4 yrs ago then moved to mohaa. fps is cool but i like wow better. i would like to try rts but it just doesnt do it for me from what ive seen. one really cool game is x-plane...its actually a FAA registered flight sim but only if you use a certain setup; however, it is the best flight sim i have used especially for helicopters. i only wish they had a combat version. now that would be just perfect. here's to wishing!

I got X-plane, but wasn't too impressed with it.

Expensive because I got all the disks, including Mars.

No Mac friendly GUI.

Boring, so I took to razing the ground.

Ground detail was sort of lame.

The buzzing drove me crazy.

I'm all for more Mac games, but man, they got to look and play decently.

A good game is one that's played over and over again.
