Microsoft Windows Vista, Bill Gates keynote video spoof debuts online
Friday, January 06, 2006 - 02:28 PM EDT

"Earlier this week, Bill Gates gave the Keynote Address at CES. In an effort to gear people up for the gadget wizardry they were about to experience on the show floor, Bill touted the revolutionary new features of the upcoming Windows Vista. Baring any further setbacks, Vista is scheduled to be released near the end of 2006," MacLive.net writes. "Any Mac users who watched the Keynote were likely unimpressed. This must have been the case with the user who created the following video. Is Vista unique in all of its first of a kind features? You decide."

The video has been on and off and on again over at MacLive, so we've added a secondary link for the video:

Jan 06, 06 - 03:47 pm Comment from: Waleed

This is a PERFECT way to describe Windows Vista!!! LOL,,,GOOD JOB

Jan 06, 06 - 03:47 pm Comment from: Mike

He is certainly one boring man to listen to.

4 more days till my SteveNote fix smile

Jan 06, 06 - 03:53 pm Comment from: OS envy?

Very, very funny. What's sad though, is that it's probably mostly true. Winblows has so far to catch up to Mac that all they can do is rip off the best features and try to pass them off to their ignorant users as their own. I bet if you showed this to a clueless Winblows user and told them it was a real preview of Vista they would wet themselves with excitment. Then when you the news that it was actually Tiger they'd probably run out and buy a Mac.

Jan 06, 06 - 03:59 pm Comment from: Joe the Farmer

I have to say, if there is one thing about Vista I like, it's the translucent window borders as opposed to brushed metal.

At least they are finally adding some eye candy, even if does look like an OSX skin.

Jan 06, 06 - 04:01 pm Comment from: Microsoft

It's so funny that Windows has 95 percent of the market. Virus and all. And what's even funnier, that when Vista comes out, people will be standing in line at "midnight" to get their copy from CompUSA.

Jan 06, 06 - 04:17 pm Comment from: Macaday

Bill sounded breathless, too fast...

"I'm just not enjoying this... let me outta here... "

Tough making a presentation like that using words like 'fresh' and 'new' etc when you know your competitor has done it all before you...

Jan 06, 06 - 04:19 pm Comment from: simple1

men apple has to use this in a commercial or something!! lol this is hilarious

Jan 06, 06 - 04:24 pm Comment from: johnblaze

Yes, very funny...and still Apple does nothing to show off OSX nothing at all. OSX is all that and more but if I wasn't a Mac user would I even know? Very frustrating!!!!

Jan 06, 06 - 04:26 pm Comment from: Treehouse

Brilliant ! Kudos !

I can also envision a side bar image showing Steve Job's reaction to each of these features. Ah, alas, I am not a graphics or video artiste.

Jan 06, 06 - 04:32 pm Comment from: TrevX

That wasn't Bill Gates giving that presentation, it was the Windows Vista project manager, whatever his name is. Some drone Bill put on stage so everyone could laugh at him if anything crashed.

Jan 06, 06 - 04:32 pm Comment from: DrDude

Actually, that's not Bill Gates' voice. If you saw the presentation (cnet), the product manager gave the demo. Bill sounds much worse!

Jan 06, 06 - 04:41 pm Comment from: bripple

It's not Bill Gates talking it is one of his minions - he's too "important to actually work - you can see the original speech hear : http://www.microsoft.com/events/executives/billgates.mspx

- very well done spoof

Jan 06, 06 - 04:41 pm Comment from: notatotalsucker

Very funny.

Wonder if the original source video is copyrighted, or if this constitutes "fair use"?

And to the poster named "Microsoft": ain't that the truth!

Jan 06, 06 - 04:42 pm Comment from: HuskerMac

Vista may be nice, but will it be immune from Viruses, spyware, adware, popups, and Malware?

Jan 06, 06 - 04:57 pm Comment from: SNL?

quick someone run the spoof over to the SNL people and get em to spoof it, ah but that won't heppy, but it would be really funny if it did, it would certainly get more people that don't read "news" to know about it

Jan 06, 06 - 04:59 pm Comment from: Eric The Red

That's wicked cool....

MDN: "Cause"... as in MSFT is a lost cause...

Jan 06, 06 - 05:03 pm Comment from: Steve Jobs

Funny thing about this video, if a person who as never seen OS X were to watch this video, they mike actually think it's Vista!

Bozo Bill...

Jan 06, 06 - 06:12 pm Comment from: JadisOne

Too funny!

Jan 06, 06 - 06:16 pm Comment from: carlo

i always thought justin timberlake took it up the ass. Supporting urge and vista, no idea, too busy taking it from da homies.

So funny watching a segment of gates' keynote, its just so lacking in enthusiasm, charisma, it funnily enough looks like a 50 year old Nerd trying to pretend to be innovative. i wonder why.

Jan 06, 06 - 06:55 pm Comment from: ndelc

That's great. The really funny part is, since it runs in Quicktime, it looks better than the actual keynote which is only in WMP. In fact I'm watching it right now, but I have time to post because it's re-buffering for about the third time in 5 minutes.

Jan 06, 06 - 07:00 pm Comment from: Jimbo von Winskinheimer

I think that a split screen of the original, side-by-side with the Mac version, would be very nice.

Jan 06, 06 - 07:06 pm Comment from: KenC

BRILLIANT!

Now, where are those critics that lambasted Steve and Apple for putting up posters last year, saying, "Redmond, get out your photocopiers!" I guess Steve knew what was going to happen after all!

Jan 06, 06 - 07:15 pm Comment from: ndelc

I was watching the keynote in WMP via MS's website, but SURPRISE! It stopped and wouldn't start up again. So then I went to ZDNet and watched just the Windows Vista section on Realplayer. It made it all the way through but I could only see one out of every 10 or so frames, which was nice. Just for kicks I went to Apple's website and watched the most recent music event in Quicktime. It played flawlessly, sounded great (I Wiretapped the Marsalis performance) and looked fantastic, and was bigger than the others as well. Honestly, why would anyone use WMP or Real? It's just beyond me why people put up with that!

On a separate note, regarding the review of Vista, all I can say is, WOW! I knew they were ripping Apple off again but not to that extent. They went almost feature for feature! I'm dumbfounded! Unbelievable.

Funny, my MDN magic word was "quality".

Jan 06, 06 - 07:45 pm Comment from: MacJack

Priceless alright. This should be called "Where do you want to go TODAY (as opposed to next year)?"

Jan 06, 06 - 08:58 pm Comment from: WindozeKiller

This is rich. I am looking forward to Episode 2! What they need to REALLY drive the point home is a text overlay with the date of the introduction of each feature in OS X. That would REALLY show how pathetic Vista is (actually WILL BE when it is ever released).

Jan 06, 06 - 10:46 pm Comment from: lol

Sh!t, Bill Gates could be the new spokesperson for Apple. If Apple advertised the sh!t outta OSX, all the vista hype would be obvious BS when people are actually seeing the big Apple logo after each spot. In fact, whenever people hear "Vista", they'll immediatelyt think of the big Apple logo. Apple could put a serious hurt on the market now that all my grandmothers know what a friggin iPod is, and if the PC market was saturated with the same power as the buzz-word iPod, all the competion would simply start making Mac accessories. Even M$ might give up the ghost (or be an ironically small player, or stick strictyl to corporate).

Jan 06, 06 - 10:54 pm Comment from: mike

I usually hate this snobby mac stuff.. but I love this.. i'm sending the link to thurrott smile

Jan 07, 06 - 02:43 am Comment from: bikersrule

First Steve Jobs and now Bill Gates. Is nothing in this world sacred. HELL NO!!!. First Bill the Dubya. Frankly I didn't think you could find anything funny in Windows.

MW word defense (sic). Only in America!!!

Jan 07, 06 - 02:48 am Comment from: Eric24601

steve jobs is turning me gay, i just saw his pic on a web article and it got me excited!

Jan 07, 06 - 05:15 pm Comment from: hammer

"looks like a 50 year old Nerd trying to pretend to be innovative. i wonder why"
