The best part of the article are the comments. I am not quite sure what anyone there is trying to say. The person trying to make the point that since the hardware is manufactured by the same people, the results should be the same, seems to have missed a fundamental issue. That issue is the engineering/design has a whole lot to do with how a computer runs. Another person gave up using MacOS after three months and the reason seem quite convoluted. I know I gave up trying to run MS OS back in the 80's because the Mac graphic interface made so much more sense to me and I have never looked back. Then there is the reference by another uninformed person about the "swamp land" Mac clone manufacturer in Florida. Ah, it is so informative peeking into the dark side.

I run have a 40 gig Vista partition on my MacBook Pro strictly for games when I am on the road.

Vista does run faster and better on my MacBook Pro than any system I have ever used. It boots as quick as Leopard but I think that the system runs hotter under Vista. The fan seems to be running at higher RPMs when Vista is on.

Games on the MacBook Pro can cause the system to get super hot. I have had it suspend the system a few times while playing. It does not take the game offline, so I have to give it a few seconds to recover.

Does anyone know of any utilities out there that monitor fan speed and system temp on the MacBook Pros? If there are some, I can give a more detailed analysis.

Honestly, some people DESERVE to run PC's with Vista. I'm actually glad they don't switch.

The machines are too different to make any meaningful comparisons. Ideally, the machines should have equivalent hardware and the only differentiating feature being the operating systems (OS X vs Vista) and (OS X vs XP). One could then directly compare OS X vs (Vista and XP) and Vista vs XP or, OS X vs Vista and OS X vs XP.

If it is impossible to match identical machines measure performance with a range of machines with varying hardware specs then plot the results against each machine.

My Macbook runs XP better than my old work pc. Not saying much there. I run it on Parallels for the work apps I have to use.

I really don't want to see Vista and Mac in the same sentence together. Seriously, crossovermac is all I need to run a windows program if I ever need to.

I have a Vista partition, and an XP partition on my Mac Mini. I never use them, I just show them off to my friends "hey look, my computer can do what yours can do, BUT BETTER!!" lol... they are always amazed that my mac can play with windows...
