I agree with John Casasanta however the most important software players aren't Mac only shops. That is where I get a little worried. Hopefully all of these guys will continue Mac support.

Go right for the heart, run as many Win apps without Windows as possible.

Drop the entry point to get a Mac.

When more and more users simply buy Mac's instead of PC's, developers will put out native OS X versions of their software and then suddenly see the light.

I have a feeling that in the end we will find ourselves surprised at the level and duration of support for the PPC after the Intel transition is complete. I bet that it will exceed support for the 68000 series after switching to PPC. Not, perhaps, out of the goodness of their hearts, but because it is simpler this time around. I hope that I am right, because I am going to be using my old dual 867 PMG4 for another year or two. I'm taking her for the 500,000 mile challenge!

Boot Camp will keep me as an Apple customer. I became a realtor recently and as most of you know Apple just isn't in this business. I was looking at buying a Window based laptop. I was not liking the idea of that very much. Now I will mostly likely buy a Macbook Pro and run both OS's. It seems very unlikely that the real estate software will ever run natively on Mac's:(
But I can do some of my work on Mac OS X like presentations, photo editing etc (most of my co-workers have a hard time with photos), and all my personal uses. And then use Windows as little as possible with that other software. One other thing, I don't have to carry around a laptop that would make me want to barf because it is so ugly to look at.
It gives me the option to be a mostly Mac user in an all Windows work place. Thats one of the reasons for this, the mac user that is forced to buy a Windows machine for work.

I just wanted to add that I bought my fiancee, who is a realtor, a MacBook Pro that she has been using since the 15" first came out. I got her Parallels Desktop and Boot Camp to make sure that no matter what problems may have come up she would have a backup. She uses parallels all the time for NETREIS and other IE only sites and boot camp for Windows apps like Wildfire. She is using the boot camp side less and less and I expect that I will be able to remove the Windows partition in the future. Anyway, I highly encourage you the make the purchase as it works well. You could also easily get away with a MacBook since for Real Estate you don't need the graphics. I would have went that way if it was available at the time.

Check out Parallels as an alternative to Boot Camp. You can run it side by side with MacOSX
and not have to dual boot. The load those PC-only Real Estate programs present to the system
can be easily handled by Parallels.

I could be wrong, but I would put money on the fact that most people who buy a Mac do it specifically because of OS X. Even tho Apple claims they are more of a hardware company.

Ok it doesn't hurt that Apple makes the best looking computers either.

I don't buy other hardware - not because it doesn't look cool or isn't bad ass, but because it doesn't run OS X.

Point of running Windows on a Mac is only because I can- not because I prefer it.

Good Lord, this text space is now just a tiny fraction of the screen real estate. The other side is filled with a "FinancialAid" ad.

But, more on point...

Apple has seamlessly gone from...
• OS 9 to the UNIX-based OS X
• Porting iTunes and iPods to Windows as the best (non-platform specific) and most stable software by anyone for Windows.
• Power PC CPUs to Intel CPUs

...would you expect anything less from Apple?

In this age of greed and egocentrism, it is quite saddening that normal human courtesy and pride in ones craft and products are being praised as a rare trait.

Screw any outside terrorism with its petty destructions, it will be our own greed that will make us fall as a country. Terrorism kills thousands or strangers, greed slowly tortures and kills millions and billions of your neighbors. But, I guess such slow self-destruction does not create the gory images and snappy sound-bites for the 9 o'clock news for the brain-dead herding mentality of the masses. Are you one?

I only wish ALL companies were lead by CEOs like Steve Jobs.

You forgot the Quadra to Power PC transition. Probably the biggest and best transition ever pulled off.
I had many users that loaded old software on that first Power PC and never realized it was running in compatability mode.

That was seemless!

I have both and...Apple has NOTHING to worry about.

I've talked to programmers. Every single one that has written for mac have all agreed that IT IS FAR EASIER to write software for OS X. End of story.
