“Apple is reportedly struggling with its effort to add 5G to next year’s iPhones,” David McCabe reports for Axios.
“Apple had used Qualcomm modem chips until 2017, when it started using a mix of Qualcomm and Intel before going all Intel with its 2018 lineup,” McCabe reports. “Qualcomm President Cristiano Amon said Thursday that the company would be happy to consider working with Apple on its 5G plans if their reported struggles to bring a product to market continue.”
McCabe reports, “On whether Qualcomm would work with Apple on 5G products: ‘We’re still in San Diego, they have our phone number,’ he said. ‘If they call, we’ll support them.'”

Not only your number is deleted from my phone but also blocked your number, so you cannot contact me when you want to change your current exorbitant terms…
“…they have our phone number,…” is a message communicated subliminally.
Definition: To understand a person’s real motives or character and thereby gain some advantage against a perceived injustice.
Apple not only understands Qualcomm’s illegal motives and bad character, it is confident enough to act upon them, and that it will eventually prevail against Q in a court of law.
Qualcomm’s CEO strategy to get Apple’s business is seriously misjudged. Why would Apple ever go back to them when they have been treated so badly. Qualcomm’s board need to wake up, they are on the wrong side of history here and they need to fire the CEO before things get any worse. They know they are in the wrong and should realise they will eventually loose. I can only assume they are fighting because in the past they’ve always won but this is different. Apple has way deeper pockets and it’s only a matter of time before they develop their own modems, at that point what are Qualcomm fighting for. All they’ve really done is draw attention to their dodgy business practices and demonstrate that 90% of their patent portfolio is garbage. The CEO is trying to play chicken in a tiny hatchback against a snow plow.
Apple should buy Qualcomm. Enough is enough.
Oh, so Qualcomm has chips to sell?
This is under FRAND, right?
So then what’s the chip’s price? Units of 10,000 is fine.
No, none of this “I’ll take a percentage of your final product”.
No, none of those “Or we can barter including faked values of patents”.
Nor even the Pharma Industry’s “Pay the sticker and we’ll give you a kickback.”
If its FRAND, it must have a clear sticker price, and that price is the same for everyone.
Because anything else is a total fraud of what FRAND is supposed to be.
