MacDailyNews Take: As Architosh notes, Corel “had a macOS version nearly 20 years ago with the last version supporting Apple’s platform being version 11 released in 2001, but the application was never truly tailored to maximize the best of what macOS had to offer.” Now, “CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 2019 for Mac is a ground-up re-write that makes the most use of Apple’s macOS platform including advanced support for Apple’s Touch Bar in its professional laptops.”

  1. Of the raster paint programs, I use Photoshop the most but I may get Affinity Photo so, if I were to get a new paint program, I wonder which one of the two is easier and more capable, Corel Paint or Affinity Photo?

    1. Seems to me that Pixelmator is many steps down from Photoshop, but I read that Affinity Photo’s quality comes close, and Corel Paint, I read, used to be tops compared to PS, but it looks like one has to pay for the whole suite at about $555 so that’s a no.

  2. I expect most MDN followers to know much about the Corel Suite, especially Corel Draw, but as a long time Mac Devotee and long time Corel Draw user, I’m truly excited. I am in the Awards and Engraving business and have been using Corel draw with my laser engraver for over 25 years, having to use Win machines. Corel Draw is a fantastic vector/bitmapped drawing program that IMHO, that beats the pants off Illustrator. If you need this type of program suggest trying the demo. The Corel Paint is also very effective over Photoshop. The autotrace function in draw has proven is weight in megapixels to my business. Very very production oriented. These two programs have been the mainstay in many vertical markets, including the sign industry. Please give it a try, you won’t be dissapponted.

  3. I like this a lot. April fools day is earlier this year. 699 Euro or 20 Euro per months. Very funny pricing. Corel has not seen Affinity coming. For 99% of regular users, their apps are perfectly fine, including Affinity Publisher (still in free Beta). Or, if professionally needed, Adobe. Sure they cost 50 Euro per month, but deliver much more for the money then Corel.
