    1. Following Tim’s policies regarding the iPhone we were heading towards a price of 2000 dollars a unit to keep the ASP much higher to compensate for the fall in sales. The 4″ model does not fit in that scheme. Maybe he hit his head hard enough this time to realize not everybody are willing to pay that much money or are interested in giant iPhones.

      1. Spot on, he truly is a one trick pony who has outlived his usefulness as a ‘safe pair of hands’ post Jobs. However there seems no attempt to create a baton let alone find someone to pass it on to in orderly fashion. This is in danger of becoming Ballmeresque in its implications.

    2. There will be a new small iPhone with cues from X and new ipad pros in form factor in 2019-2020.
I can almost guarantee you that !

With this Orchestrated pent up demand, they will sell like hot cakes!

      1. Again spot on this is typical Apple tactics milk a product, expecially a lower end one, delay or restrict upgrades while milking profits, then remove it to sell off stock, say nothing and then a few years later exploit the pent up demand while presuming you haven’t pissed off your customers too much. Don’t expect Cook to come up with new tricks.

  1. Apple should keep developing the 4″ (and smaller) models. There are situations that call for and people who long for a smaller phone. What would help is a way for users to easily switch among two, three or four phone models quickly depending on circumstances. For work the user may want to use their largest phone. For dinner, parties, etc. a 4″ or smaller device is called for. Offer more choices and a way to switch the same number among them and you will sell more devices.

    1. Typically, simply switching the microSIM from device to device will also move the service. Of course, this isn’t something that’s as easy as switching to your dress watch, but it can be done without excessive effort.

  2. iPhone SEs – Poof – gone. My mom has a 5C and I thought an SE would be a nice upgrade. I just bought an XR and, while I like the Face ID, I am coming from a 7, and the 7 was the perfect size for me. I also have an iPad so don’t need large iPhone. But the iOS upgrade that puts the mic icon at the bottom right, causes me to need to use my other hand – I don’t like that. Part of it is that I have my XR in an Otterbox Defender case, so that adds a little to the width. My Apple products are only touched by humans as much as absolutely necessary (screen protector too). So they are still in mint condition when I am done with them.

  3. For the life of me, I don’t understand why there’s not a phone maker not producing a small phone, with an adequate screen size for all the essentials. Yes, SE-like, but even smaller, more basic.
Apple could make the best version of such a phone, imo…as it would need to be finely executed and crafted.
Maybe it such a phone would would send desired revenue/unit profit to far downward? The Razor size/kind/likeness remains favorable in a large percentage of the consumer world. It’s a missed opp, in my mind.
