“Apple purchased Silk Labs, a small startup with approximately a dozen employees, earlier this year,” Clover reports. “Silk’s website says that it aims to ‘bring next-generation visual and audio intelligence to connected products’ with ‘state-of-the-art image and audio recognition.'”
“Silk’s site suggests its technology has a number of potential uses for home security, retail analytics, package monitoring, digital display metrics, access control, parking lot monitoring, and building surveillance with capabilities like people detection, facial recognition, audio detection, [and] object recognition,” Clover reports.

I really wish we could just call them advanced algorithms or something, the ‘arificial intelligence’ hype is a joke, and one that’s pretty much just annoying at this point. Never before have I felt so strongly that tech is in the hands of deformed toddlers, ditto to the street people that keep throwing money at them for nothing.
Was a tad depressing I can’t deny when an AI professor in a programme I was watching recently said that the principles behinds Siri’s intelligence and learning was practically the same as that in some early 50s project or other they were examining. So much for cutting edge.
The principles behind computing in general is the same as some late 40’s project. 🙂 ALL we’ve done is made it smaller. Actually, we could go back to the 1800’s to Charles Babbage… the main difference is that now it’s electronic instead of mechanical, but the principles are the same.
