Apple releases watchOS 5.0.1 for Apple Watch

“Apple today released a new software update for the Apple Watch, upgrading watchOS 5 to watchOS 5.0.1,” Juli Clover reports for MacRumors. “The new watchOS 5.0.1 release comes 10 days after Apple released the watchOS 5 update.”

“The watchOS 5.0.1 update is minor in scale and focuses on fixing bugs that have been discovered since the watchOS 5 update,” Clover reports. “According to Apple’s release notes, watchOS 5.0.1 addresses an issue that caused a ‘small number of users’ to see increased exercise minutes, fixes a bug that caused some users not to receive stand credit in the afternoon, and solves a problem that could prevent the Apple Watch from charging.”

  1. I have never gotten the STAND tracker to work. At my job I’m up and down out of a desk maybe 20 times a day, and never once has it registered a single stand.

Plenty of comments online about this not working for others, too.

    Series 3, non-cellular.

  2. ‘Segments’ stopped working for me in watchOS 5 for my ‘Open Water Swim’ workout. It used to mark a new segment when I paused after each kilometer. Now it pauses fine, but no segments at the end of the workout.

Just upgraded to watchOS 5.0.1 last night. Let’s hope this takes care of it. Will test it again on Saturday morning.

FYI… I didn’t see it posted here (maybe missed it), but tvOS had a minor upgrade to 12.0.1 also. No mention exactly what needed fixing, but I did have some issues with HomeKit on one device with tvOS 12.
