Wake me when the real Apple Mac Pro event I care about is firmly announced.
i hope you are ready for deep hibernation as apple has not had a specific mac pro event in the last 10 years
Mac Pro’s have always been announced at WWDC in June actually. If it doesn’t show up at the 2019 WWDC many pro folks will be dismayed, and most likely start making migration plans to other platforms.
No new headless Mac and I am pretty much done with Macs. My first was in 1984 and my first Apple computer was a II before that.
Do not want a sealed up box designed to be thrown away in 2 years.
My late 2012 iMac i7 is still going strong. I use it every hour of every day. Even with a HDD it still is pretty fast with 24gb of ram. It is still cool, quiet and just fine
I, like you, want a new Mac but under the right circumstances I’d buy another “sealed Mac”.
6 years is the longest I’ve ever used one machine.
How did you get 24 gb of RAM into it? I was under the impression that 16 is the max. I have the same computer.
Thanks
I have 32Gb RAM in mine. Use it with an external 27″ display on the side, and I couldn’t be happier with my setup still after all this time.
Yeah, I’m there in starting to look at Windows over Mac. I primarily use Lightroom, and can’t justify a $5000 iMac Pro, my mini is getting a bit long in the tooth for my use case, and have no real need for an all in one computer.
My iMac can have up to 33gb
It currently has 2 4gb and 2 8gb sticks in it. The 27” model has a little door in the back and it is easy to upgrade. There can be 4 8gb sticks in it.
I may take it apart and upgrade the Hdd to SSD. Or I may just get an external thunderbolt box and put an SSD in that.
My big disappointment in it is that it does not support 4K 60hz displays. Mine in a pre retina mac.
I misread, iMac vs Mac Mini. The mini is the one with the limit. Still, good to know.
Time for a new computer maker to appear on the world scene. Apple has lost its way where computers are concerned. I am appalled–no new Mac mini, iMac. I can’t go the Windows route. Is there nothing else out there? Hugely disappointed.
I & others here feel your pain – for years now.
This is going to be so anti-climactic now.
Was really hoping for a new iPad Pro and MacMini.
If we get iOS 12 this week, that’d be nice at least.
Saw this picture on Twitter and it sums it up wonderfully.
but, but, all they want is a
(can’t we all just get a-dongle?)
Cook’s ego has now exceeded Jobs’— and that’s saying something!
Painfully childish opening…ugh….
Funny! Coincidental that the spaceship looks like a train track that goes nowhere—symbolic of the svc to pro clientele?
Yay! more overpriced junk that does the same thing last years junk does.
I hope this doesn’t turn into some demented Apple/Spaghetti Western like “A Fistful of Dongles” or “For A Few Dongles More”…
Well at least she didn’t run into the glass door…..!!!!
Blacks still doing ‘fetch-it’ at Apple…so much for diversity training….
Marxism I think you mean.
Jobs would never have opened a WWDC by introducing anxiety; He would show us the elegant solution right away. The video was over-produced, giving too many nods to those empty super hero or spy movies that depend on fake action.
Very true. Steve Jobs new how to market and he did it on the knife edge of hype and truth.
He was wrong to call iWatch and “intelligent guardian” because the catchphrase is vacuous of any bedside manners. iWatch is rather a “caring sentinel at your side.”
Apple does not produce anything called “iWatch”.
Maybe you should stick to art.
Watch looks great!
Medical aspects will be a game changer!
“I’d like to invite feel-up…”
Huh?
Yes! 3D Touch lives on!
The first iPhone video had one religious symbol: A person wearing a Moslem head scarf. I saw no cross nor nods to any other religion. This means to me a biased emphasis on Islam. Everything else was secular which I prefer.
Actually the hijab is not religious but rather a cultural symbol meant to represent a woman’s modesty.
Perhaps, but I have seen videos of women protesting its removal based on freedom of religion.
That is based on their husband’s interpretation of the Koran and also his insecurity but again the scarf itself is not a symbol of religion and is relatively new compared to the age of Islam itself.
So fs, 50 minutes in, underwhelmed. A lot of hype about minot tweaks, with the exception of EKG. Hoping something is coming on Macs…
I have some great 42mm bands. I doubt they’ll work on the 44mm. Too bad.
Why wouldn’t they work? The hardware is the same size.
I haven’t heard anyone confirm either way, but I held my 42 up to the “actual size” gauge on the Apple Store app, and it was smaller than the 44.
At the 33min mark of the video, it’s stated that existing bands will work. It was very vague but I’m assuming 38=40 and 42=44
Smart HDR seems super good.
The most advanced iPhone ever! Also said last year and the year before that. Can’t you think of anything else to say?
Since Steve passed they’ve just been polishing up the stuff he’d already invented. Do they have any of their own sTeve-ish ideas?. I love Apple but when Tom Cook says “magical!!!” it doesn’t really ring true.
P.s. Remember the pro and iMac models.
No 5G of course.
AirPower still MIA. Unbelievable.
I detect a lot of prompted hand clapping. Reminiscent of canned laughter in TV shows. Welcome to the forced delight in the post-Jobs era.
Schiller is doing a very good job at articulating but, if he said that iPhone makes the world’s first true depth image, well, that’s wrong.
The environmentalist woman did not make any key statements that I could walk away with. And then Schiller also talks environmental aspects of iPhone. Why?
Did i see this correctly? Schiller talks iPhone, then woman talks environment, then Schiller returns to iPhone again? If so, no. Should not be.
Ive and Schiller both talk about Smart HDR? No. Should not be.
Too many iPhones. I am exhausted. I remember being energized after Jobs’ keynotes.
“and a completely redesigned Mac,…Pro? No, “…App store.” Shoot.
I think I saw a new iPhone with a notch side-by-side an older model model with no notch. Did iPhone ever have no notch?
Too many iPhones at an iPhone introduction? Too few other products at a presentation that was never about those products?
That’s what happens when there are too many iPhone version in production.
No mention of new iPads or a new Mac Pro. Come on Tim, get with the damn program dude!
Love the watch,,.. absolute game changer with ecg and FDA approval and AHA endourcment.
And it looks gorgeous !
Love the Xs + max and the increadible core ML
6.1 … nice but i was hoping for more agressive pricing…. let down price wise.
SAD SE is gone !
And where is the freaking airpower….. mind boggling…. most powerful tech company in the world and still cant deliver what they promissed last year…
Ordering watch on friday 🙂
Looking forward to ipad and mac event …..
I’ll absolutely be ordering a Series 4 watch on Friday as well, that was impressive and worth an upgrade over the Series 3.
The rest of this felt like it could have been delivered in a press release.
F!
1. still stupid iPhone X strip so u can’t watch full screen like Samsung could long ago!
2. still no bigger iPad Pro after 3 years – Apple goes bigger with iPhone but in reverse w/ iPad Pro?!
3. no new MacBook
4. no new iMac
5. no new Mac mini
6. no “One More Thing”
7. no Apple-own “Chipolo” object tracker
8. no Apple Energy residential alternative power producing device ; )
Apple normally holds separate events for the Mac, usually in October. Watch for new Macs, including the new MacBook Air, in about a month.
anyone understand the point of iPhone XR, besides color difference or lcd vs oled?
I do. The. difference is affordability. Some of us are not rich and we love Apple products. The few hundred dollars difference allow us to upgrade to a new phone. Especially if one has a spouse and offspring who are asking for the same thing.
