“We’re a week away from Apple’s next big event,” Jason Snell writes for Macworld. “Here are a bunch of smaller details I’ll be watching for carefully from my seat in the Steve Jobs Theater.”
“Obviously, health has been at the forefront of almost every Apple Watch presentation since it shipped, and I’d expect for that to continue,” Snell writes. “Will Apple Retail be mentioned? And will it be a few slides from Tim Cook or an entire presentation from Ahrendts?”
“In the first 20 minutes of the event, pay attention to the pacing… If you’re holding out hope for an iPad Pro announcement or, dare to dream, some new Macs, you want to see Tim Cook blow through the early part of the keynote without any long digressions,” Snell writes. “I think it will be telling if Apple omits the HomePod entirely from the event next week, because that would suggest (at least to me) that the company is regrouping and will come back with a new strategy for the HomePod for 2019. On the other hand, if the HomePod gets a little bit of a push during the event — maybe pointing out some of the newer features, perhaps even pre-announcing a few forthcoming updates — it seems like Apple’s committed to making the current HomePod a winner during the holiday quarter.”
“I’m also curious if Apple will recycle its conversation about wireless charging from last year’s event, given that the AirPower charging mat never shipped,” Snell writes. “Will the AirPower make it?”

for me personally it be great news to get any update for the Excellent iPhone SE, a bump in battery, processor and camera will be more than enough. However if the new iPhone SE is a mini iPhone X with edge to edge screen then that would be truly excellent. However i doubt the 2nd scenario will happen

I have a 2.5 year old iPhone SE. The top right button no longer works and it keeps trying to shut down on its own. Took it to the Apple store locally and they could not fix it.
Because it is out of the warranty period they refused to replace a defective device. But they offered to sell me a new one for $276. Is this my fault?
I still have the original iPhone in 2007 and the 4S. Both rock solid and never failed.
So welcome to the new cheaper component Apple at premium prices. It is unbelievable to me the standard warranty is not more generous and realistic.

I’m totally with you Snoop – a mini iPhone X would be an immediate purchase for me and a family member will be getting a deal on my full-sized iPhone X – but the new watch is most important to me – to see if it’s worthy of an upgrade from my Series 3 LTE which has become the most important device to me!
Smaller iphone x would be great… but the face-id cam could be too iintrucive on the screen If they cant significantly reduce its size. ( i have my doubts about it becoming a reality this year for that reason )
As for the watch.. same here.. my most favorite Apple product now… absolutely … and i have no doubt i will be upgrading. 🙂

iPhones with Dolby Atmos is what I’m looking forward to. I doubt it’ll happen, of course. If people had that, they wouldn’t much need Homepod, but I can dream… until the 12th.

Anyone besides me think the ‘Round’ could also refer to a new round-faced Apple Watch instead of the rectangular ones?
Jony Ive has three favorite shapes: a rounded rectangle, a rounded square, and a circle. Jony uses circles in places where they are least efficient, such as to frame portraits in portholes. I predict that the phrase “gather round” means that something that shouldn’t be round will be round, such as the Apple Watch.
