“Apple continues to polish its upcoming major release for the Mac with Monday’s release of macOS Mojave developer beta 7,” Andrew O’Hara reports for AppleInsider. “A few more changes have been found, including one devastating blow to fans looking forward to Group FaceTime.”
“Like we’ve seen in iOS 12 betas, many new welcome screens were added this time around, notably for the newly redesigned iOS-inspired Mac App Store and the freshly renamed Apple Books,” O’Hara reports.
“The biggest change, however, wasn’t an addition, but a subtraction. Group FaceTime, the upcoming update to FaceTime that would allow you to have calls with up to 32 participants, has been removed,” O’Hara reports. “This flagship feature is being delayed, and won’t show up until a later update to macOS Mojave and iOS 12.”

Talking with as many as 32 people at a time is a dictator’s dream because it’s nearly impossible to meaningfully communicate in a co-equal give and take with that many.
Delayed features and products are the modern Apple’s version of Sherlocked, and we need new nomenclature to match. How are we not saying that the updated FaceTime is another feature that’s been Cooked? 🙂
I have been using the public beta, starting with the 3rd or 4th release. I have a 2016 13″ MacBook Pro with touch bar. So far (knock on wood) it has been rock solid. Any lingering problems I had with High Sierra are gone. I am using this on my daily device; my workflow has not changed. I am loving desktop stacks and the new screenshot tools. They are by far the rockstar features I thought I would never use. The Quicklook enhancements are nice as well. Of course, Dark Mode is amazing. The only thing I have really noticed is that some developers need to make their apps compatible with Dark Mode, but other than that everything is working great.
