Apple’s new 13-Inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar sports four full-speed thunderbolt 3 ports

“Apple has confirmed that the new 13-inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar is equipped with four full-speed Thunderbolt 3 ports,” Joe Rossignol reports for MacRumors.

“2018 models ship with Intel’s eighth-generation Core i5 or Core i7 processors, which both support up to 16 PCI Express lanes, providing enough bandwidth for maximum data transfer speeds up to 40Gb/s on all four Thunderbolt 3 ports,” Rossignol reports. “2016 and 2017 models of the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar could be configured with sixth- and seventh-generation Intel Core i5 and Core i7 processors, which supported up to 12 PCI Express lanes, limiting full speeds to the two left-side Thunderbolt 3 ports, with reduced bandwidth on the right-side ports.”

  1. Bob’s Large Collection Of Peripherals — That All Work Very Well — Don’t Sport Anything That Looks Or Acts Like A Thunderbolt Port, Or Anything That Looks Like A USB-C Connector.

      1. Here in 2018 I have and regularly use things Apple has tried to kill with dongle hell:

        – SD cards
        – Ethernet
        – USB 1,2,3 type A ports
        – Mini DisplayPort
        – FireWire 800
        – Toslink digital audio output
        – Logitech security cable slot

If you think everyone should throw away all these reliable peripherals to satisfy Apple’s pathetic design philosophy, you have another think coming. There’s a reason both Dell and HP are growing computer sales faster than Apple lately. They actually listen to the consumer and offer options.
