How to make an anonymous call from your iPhone

“If you want to make a call but don’t want to let the giant marketing company / slightly weird stranger you are about to talk to learn your number, you can very easily make your call anonymous,” Jonny Evans writes for Apple Must.

“Apple’s iPhone has a smart way to protect your number,” Evans writes, “and while many iPhone users (including myself) think twice when we receive a call we cannot identify that fails to share its number using Caller ID, it may be worth using when you want to remain a little anonymous.”

You can even use this tip to automate anonymity with anyone or any business in your Contacts!

  1. This is so lame. #31# is a GSM code to block your caller ID from going out. It works with any GSM phone line. It has absolutely nothing to do with iPhones. It will work on AT&T and T-Mobile in the USA. It won’t work on Verizon or Sprint in the USA because they are CDMA. Repeat: This has nothing to do with having an iPhone. It’s a GSM code.

  2. This is an excellent example of a poorly-researched article which I expect that consolidators such as MDN will evaluate and NOT republish. As someone above pointed out, these codes have nothing to do with iPhone, nor do they work on ALL iPhones.

    I’m disappointed, MDN.
