We might be inching closer to ‘Apple Prime’

“We seem to be getting closer to ‘Apple Prime.’ Or the ‘Apple Bundle,’ David Marino-Nachison reports for Barron’s. “Or the ‘Apple Extra Value Meal.’ Or — whatever you want to call the as-yet-unannounced offering into which Apple would combine a suite of services for a single price.”

“On Thursday, The Information, citing ‘people familiar with the company’s plans,’ reported that Apple planned to combine news, magazine articles and television into a single subscription product,” Marino-Nachison reports. “Earlier this month, The Wall Street Journal reported that such a service might include iCloud storage as well. Apple bought a digital magazine service in March; some have speculated about other possibilities, such as health monitoring.”

“Would you buy the Apple, er, value meal? You might, especially if you’re already a customer of one or more of the company’s other subscription services. Given sufficient consumer perception of value, that could considerably lower the chance a customer unsubscribes,” Marino-Nachison reports. “(Though it’s certainly possible, or even likely, that Apple services would also be sold a la carte.)”

    1. Exactly. There’s no excuse not to add this to the bundle, since they are only charging $0.99 per month for 50 GB of iCloud storage. It’s not that the cost is prohibitive, it’s that people don’t bother getting enough iCloud storage and backing up their phones. This should all just work out of the box with a bundle.

    1. That is irrelevant, dprater. If Apple provides additional services that I want/enjoy at a price that I deem a reasonable value, then I will likely subscribe. It doesn’t matter to me what Apple is currently earning from other products/services or has accumulated from previous sales.

I pay way too much to Comcast right now, and I do not have any loyalty to that company. If Apple offers a better deal for similar services, then I will jump on it in a second.

    1. It actually has to drop slightly below zero/freezing for the crystallization to start after which heat is released to the air so temperature actually rises a few degrees as snow forms and falls.

In Apple’s case however I think hell may need to approach Absolute Zero. 😛

  1. Apple Prime? What use would that be?

All you can eat ‘Planet of the Apps’?

    Free keyboard?

    Extra GPU dongle coupon?

I have Netflix and Amazon Prime. Apple is a day late and a couple thousand dollars short.

    I’ll pass.

    1. Times change…services evolve. You are not still using AOL, right? Why would you scoff at the idea of Apple outdoing Netflix or Amazon Prime? Do you believe that those two companies somehow have a permanent lock on their market segments?

I suggest that you open your mind a bit.
