    1. … 80% of Americans are black. If you have cable TV just run through the channels at night and see how many blacks pop up in shows or commercials. And of course they are all doctors and other professionals.

  1. Not an Oprah fan, but a lot of people are.

Unlikely to watch it, but it’s a safe selection and will probably be a success.

And who knows…by the time we see her first show, maybe Apple will have upgraded the Mac Pro.

  2. What a mess. Apple missing the opportunity to purchase Netflix might go down in history as the worst decision Tim Cook ever made. Apple needs a movie streaming service now. Or just buy Netflix. suspend buybacks and buy Netflix.

    1. “Apple needs a movie streaming service now.” Hmmm, perhaps you never noticed. Apple has a movie streaming service. I mean they do stream music. You must mean a movie streaming subscription service? Actually I subscribe to Netflix and i find their subscription service to very poor. Most movies aren’t available for streaming.

  3. i worked on an Oprah Winfrey produced project and overall it was a nice experience, especially working with Halle Berry. But I have my doubts as to the kind of content she would produce, plus she doesn’t need the money or exposure as so many talented show runners, writers and producers do. But she will inevitably employ many of those same people. So we will see.

    1. I doubt very seriously that Winfrey will attract anything except flies. Unless she does a show about how much she and Michelle Obama really hated each other, and why she was banned from the Obama White House, nothing much comes out of Winfrey except housewife entertainment.

      1. I hadn’t heard Oprah and Michelle hated each other. That’s correct, not much entertaining gravitas out of Harpo Productions. And any attempt at same is a turn-off. Better to make a deal with Jordan Peele like Jason Blum did.

  4. Oprah is old news. She has lost her mass audience. Sure she is a fine person but such a “safe” move on apple’s part. The question is who is the “next” Oprah? Dose apple have the insight it figure what the next thing is and the nerves of steel needed to take a chance. Everything from apple these days is safe and obvious. When will they innovate and blow us away. Instead of the safe and steady progression. I miss the vision and instinct Steve. Tim is like the safe second string quarterback that is told to “hold on to the ball, don’t throw an interception and run the clock out.

  5. Not looking forward to this new pushy politically correct Apple. They curate and select the liberal points of view and it’s going to get worse.

And NO. I don’t want to read an excerpt from Hogg’s new book.
