President Trump showed Kim Jog-un an iPad video about North Korea’s future

“Donald Trump said Tuesday that part of his hard sell to Kim Jong-un about giving up his nuclear weapons was a video that showed the benefits of shaking off the chains of near-global economic sanctions – including the possibility of developing his country’s beaches,” David Martosko reports for The Daily Mail. “‘They have great beaches! You see that whenever they’re exploding the cannons into the ocean, right?’ Trump said after he played the dramatic, Hollywood-produced four minute video for the press corps.”

“‘So I said, “Boy, look at that beach. Wouldn’t that make a great condo behind” – and I explained it,’ the real estate billionaire recalled,” Martosko reports. “I said, “Instead of doing that you could have the best hotels in the world right there.” Think of it from a real estate perspective.'”

“One brief freeze-frame in the film footage depicts a beach that looks as much like Palm Peach as Pyongyang, with hotels in the background and a yacht marina in the foreground,” Martosko reports. “A voiceover described Tuesday’s summit as ‘a special moment in time when a man is presented with one chance that may never be repeated. What will he choose? To show vision and leadership? Or not?’ ‘Will this leader choose to advance his country and be part of a new world? Be the hero of his people?’ the narrator says later, over a climactic string orchestra. ‘Will he shake the hand of peace and enjoy prosperity like he has never seen? A great life, or isolation? Which path will be chosen?'”

“Trump said his team had brought the video to Singapore on ‘on a cassette and an iPad.’ It’s unclear whether the White House believed it would have to provide an old-technology way for Kim to view it once he was home in Pyongyang. ‘That was a tape that we gave to Chairman Kim and his people, his representatives. And it captures a lot, captures what can be done,’ he said,” Martosko reports. “[The video’s narrator also says, ‘Out of the darkness can come the light, and the light of hope can burn bright.’ And in a direct appeal to Kim, the voiceover adds: ‘A new world can begin today, one of friendship, respect and goodwill. Be part of that world, where the doors of opportunity are ready to be opened.’Investment from around the world, where you can have medical breakthroughs, an abundance of resources, innovative technology and new discoveries.'”

      1. Unfortunately the hate of the progressive runs so deep that the guy could cure cancer and they would say that he caused overpopulation.

Robert DeNiro in his senility can do nothing but yell obscenity with no facts, just emotion. He was once a great actor. I guess all things change.

        1. When Trump does something good, then I am willing to give him credit. But he also has to take responsibility when he or his appointees or staff screw up. He also needs to cease the hypocrisy – remember the comments about golf, transparency, working hard, about the use of executive orders, etc.? He needs to admit when he is wrong, and so does the rest of the GOP. Some GOP legislators talk about bipartisanship, but the party has not actually practiced it since the late 1990s. The process has become so childish.

        2. Seriously? I’m still waiting for any responsibility or transparency on the part of Obama, Holder, Hilary and many others within his admin along with the lapdop media and the dems.

      2. I find it difficult to believe you would support the foul mouth insult actor in denigrating President Trump. Particularly at this time when the president has gone where no president has gone before to negotiate world peace. Unbelievable …

        1. Not only does the clip posted above contain multiple F-bombs, but the Access Hollywood tape begins with the following observation by the recently married Donald Trump concerning Nancy O’Dell, who was the co-host of the program:

“I moved on her and I failed. I’ll admit it. I did try and f**k her. … But I couldn’t get there. And she was married. Then all of a sudden I see her, she’s now got the big phony tits and everything.”

Later in the interview, of course, is the famous observation, “And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab ’em by the p***y. You can do anything.”

That’s not just being brash, or even just being a potty mouth. It’s being devoid of basic human decency, like anyone who knows anything about Kim Jung Un claiming that he’s smart and loves his people.

    1. On January 1, 1950, the United States Secretary of State described an strategic perimeter for US interests which did not include South Korea.

On June 25, 1950, North Korea invaded South Korea. An estimated three million people (including roughly 37,000 Americans) died before the 1953 truce.

On June 1, 2018, the President of the United States announced the cessation of joint military exercises with South Korea and his intention to withdraw all American forces as soon as practicable. He adopted the North Korean position that entirely defensive US preparations for a North Korean invasion were “provocative,” adding that they were too expensive. He specifically rejected providing any training for the US Air Force bomber crews based on Guam.

The date for the next war has not been set as yet.

      1. The date might not be set yet but it will probably be before the next election in your country. Best way to ensure reelection I’ve heard.

Mind you there might be a taste of making peace with the enemy so a war there may not happen. That’s not a deterrent of course if you can’t make war on your enemies you could always go to war against your soon to be ex-allies.

As long as there is a war, your nation’s history is mostly that. Just look at the first year your country was at peace. Bet you’ll have to look it up.

      2. As mentioned previously, the last MacOS update borked four keys on my 2011 MacBook Pro, including the “two.”

        Dean Acheson speech = 21 January 1950
        Donald Trump speech = 12 June 2018

I didn’t mention that after North Korea invaded in 1950, the US was able to form a coalition including 27 allies that supported us with military forces or other direct aid.

As of the G7 meeting in 2018, I’m not sure we have any strong allies if history repeats. Sadly, Chairman Kim (like his counterparts in Moscow and Beijing) is aware of that, too.

        1. “As of the G7 meeting in 2018, I’m not sure we have any strong allies if history repeats. Sadly, Chairman Kim (like his counterparts in Moscow and Beijing) is aware of that, too.”

Gee, what a surprise. Leave it up to the FAKE conservative to find a minutiae angle to PISS on good news. You are really pathetic at times …

        2. North Korea is the most repressive country on earth. It is run by the world’s most murderous current dictator. This is a man who had his favorite uncle blown up with an antiaircraft gun, machine-gunned an ex-girlfriend, assassinated his brother, and has summarily executed cabinet members for not applauding his speeches enthusiastically enough. His family is responsible for millions of deaths by violence and starvation, many of them on his personal watch. His people, barring a few toadies, are malnourished and terrorized.

Now this is what Our Dear Leader has to say about him: “Got along great with Kim Jong Un who wants to see wonderful things for his country. … We got along very well. He’s smart, loves his people, he loves his country.”

The fact that the President of the United States admires a bloody dictator is hardly good news or minutia.

Neither is the announced intent to remove the forces that have been protecting South Korea since 1950 from the 9 million active-duty and reserve members of the North Korean army. The US Army has about 1 million, including the National Guard and Reserve. Our advantage is in the Air Force that Mr. Trump wants to stop training for a Korean conflict.

Neither is the fact that Mr. Trump gave all this away in exchange for nothing more than the same empty promises that North Korea has been offering for decades, without ever getting so spectacular a payoff before.

        3. Did you totally LOOSE YOUR MIND? Obama did not DESERVE the prize for showing up for work, with NO accomplishments other than the support of the LIBERAL MEDIA …

        4. I repeat, Obama did not deserve the Nobel Peace Prize a couple months after showing up for work. The LIBERAL MEDIA had influence on the selection committee and no one including you can deny that …

        5. I can’t speak for the Nobel committee and neither can you, nor the liberal media. But after the disastrous Cheney presidency perhaps they felt Obama’s message, influence, and victory was sufficient. But why assume? In the Nobel Foundation’s own words it was for his “extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples”.

        6. It’s not a matter of speaking for anyone. It’s a common sense matter of OBSERVATION OF WHAT WENT DOWN. Liberal media, Liberal award to an UBER Liberal president after a couple moths of doing NOTHING to deserve the award. I don’t care how they justified their irresponsible actions, just like the irresponsible potty mouth Deniro you support. Enjoy the liberal FANTASY…

        7. Pure conjecture and speculation. It’s your opinion he did nothing, the granting institution (which is not the media) felt otherwise. They stated their reasons, and do not owe anyone an explanation. It’s their award.

Care to venture a guess who won’t be getting a Nobel, or Pulitzer, or Oscar, or Tony? He already did get at least one “Stormy” Good for him, that’s the FLOTUS’s business.

    2. No he hasn’t.

North Korea still has nukes and missiles capable of reaching the US.
North Korea still has enough artillery to level Seoul before Trump could think of any non nuclear answer. He could level Yongsan Garrison and never launch a missile.

Do not confuse rhetoric for concrete results.

Lucy has the football and Charlie Brown has been invited to kick it.

    3. Exactly right and remarkable for a non politician in a short period of time. Starting to think we should fire ALL professional politicians and a large number of them are lawyers and hire business people and regular people to restore common sense in the Washington swamp …

  1. It’s all about the West’s taking N. Korea’s natural resources while the US – the first to use nukes, and on civilians – gets to keep its own nukes for use again.
Apple Corp. could benefit by using N. Korea’s super cheap workforce to assemble its gadgets.

  2. After watching the sales pitch, I almost gagged. I wonder what the Korean communist string pullers thought about a full-on capitalist dream?
If this deal is sold…and that’s a big ‘if’ this early on, I might scratch my head, but I’ll also bow to the mighty dollar and Trump’s chutzpah.

    1. The devour demon, the West, uses several methods to Capitalize on smaller nations. Sometimes it invades them first. Sometimes it bombs them first. Sometimes it exploits them. N. Korea’s nukes thwarted the US’s invasion so it uses the soft sell with promises of the benefits of Capitalism but we know that it’s just the precursor for economic colonialism.

  3. not a bit of Mac news here. the video could have been played on any dumb display, it makes no difference. nobody is impressed with the thinly disguised maralgo ads or how many maga hats trump sold last month. this event was a glorified photo op. what did each side pledge to do? basically add each other to their facebook friends and leave south korea to figure out the rest. America is ceding the Pacific to other countries.

mdn and goeb, if this is the excitement that gives you your trump hardons, you owe it to yourself to move to a different forum.

      1. President*

*1 of 5 presidential elections in which the winner lost the popular vote.

John Quincy Adams 1827 Elected by the House
        Rutherford B. Hayes (R) 1876
        Benjamin Harrison (R) 1888
        George W. Bush (R) 2000
        Donald J. Trump (R) 2016

All Republicans with the exception of John Quincy Adams. There was no Republican Party then. Maybe they should call themselves the Asterisk Party.
