“What is happening with Apple’s AirPower? Announced months ago, expected in spring, Cupertino’s wireless charging solution still hasn’t launched,” Jonny Evans writes for Computerworld. “Why?”
“It has now been over 200-days since Apple announced AirPower,” Evans writes. “It is not the first recent Apple product to be announced in a blaze of glory, only to ship months later than originally promised.”
“What is interesting is that all the products Apple had been expected to introduce this spring, including AirPlay 2, have yet to appear,” Evans writes. “Has Apple really held these items back for a big WWDC reveal, or does it plan a special event before then?”

In case everyone is suffering from a case of amnesia, the iPhone was announced 6 months prior to shipping, pending FCC approval. AirPower has not been approved by the FCC hence it can’t launch .
You know this to be so? Secondly, why even announce the product. Apple is behind in everything they do.
Yes you anonymous moron, Steve said so in his introduction speech in 2007. Also, Apple ah said the FCC has not approved the device as of yet. Cut the sarcastic anonymous bullshit wanker.
I have given up on Apple on this as I have started to on so many things. Bought the Anker unit.
My excitement about what Apple does, will do, or might do has greatly diminished under Cook’s regime. They haven’t been able to execute well even with relatively simple things. Tim Cook should’ve stayed the supply guy since he does not have the vision thing.

Tim Cook’s Apple misfires yet again. Now it’s no longer a surprise that a product launch gets botched. It’s expected.

It has been a very long time since Apple has communicated anything of consequence wrt products. The education event was something to tide us over but really very little other than a tweak to the iPad with pencil capability. Other than that, the last time they spoke to us was September? Do I have that right? Products eventually launching late doesn’t count in my book as controlling the narrative.
If I were to read between the lines (and why not, everybody loves to do this) and see the recent “leak memo about leaks” I would say that Apple is trying to bring back the element of surprise that they have so sorely lost. Additional ways to read between the lines – Apple committing to launch features in iOS only when they are ready. Also converging iOS and Mac apps, another way of closing some glaring product gaps.
So, either Apple is truly getting their poop together and ready to wow us at WWDC OR they are spiraling out of control, unable to keep up with the pace of growth that they need.
I just know that Apple’s product reputation has been deteriorating since the September launches and it is high time for them reset the narrative.
Come on folks…Apple simply does not have the resources to work on the iPhone AND a wireless charger. Not even close. Apple needs MORE resources.
Probably stuck somewhere in Tim’s pipeline, let’s see if we can find Airplay2 in there somewhere as well.

Yeah, but Apple has developed a coordination handicap, impediment, oh I mean disability. It would have been wiser to put out their wireless charging phones and shut up about their own plans for their charger until it was available. As things are now, the Apple Store is selling a third party wireless charger, which would have been the case if they’d shut up. I see no benefit at all in their interminable pre-announcement. All it’s done is embarrass them yet again. Apple Bungle.
