“Fresh rumours are circulating that Apple may be preparing to wind down iTunes music downloads in 2019 due to a loss of interest from consumers,” Jon Porter writes for Trusted Reviews. “Now, the Cupertino-based company has issued statement addressing the claims.”
“Apple has subsequently issued a short but to-the-point press statement regarding the rumours it’s planning to kill off iTunes in 2019,” Porter writes. “‘It’s not true,’ a company spokesperson said.”
“Even in 2019 the music download is unlikely to die out completely,” Porter writes. “Outside of Apple it’s likely to be a similar story across the rest of the music industry, but we don’t think we’ll ever see the music download die off completely.”

BTW: You’d have to be stupid to subscribe to Spotify when it has 33% fewer tracks than Apple Music for the same price. Apple Music boasts a catalog of 45 million songs; Spotify has a mere subset of just 30 million. Don’t be stupid. Ever seen Roon??? It’s what iTunes should have been 5 years ago…It’s not a download service but’s it’s the finest digital playback system you can buy! iTunes cannot even sync my iPhone X properly…What’s funny is there simply is no excuse…they have more money than God and yet still lag behind what people want to open their wallets for!!!
i do not know Roon, but i will have a look when i get home. However i am also having issues with my iTunes sync with my iPhone SE. This was never an issue, but i also have issues with iPhoto when i connect my iPhone to transfer photos. Have to say iTunes is clumsy now, not confidence inspiring like it used to be
I switched to Apple music,
but one thing I miss from Spotify is that I often found other versions of songs which I enjoyed, (covers, live recordings, etc..) while Apple tends to only have the standard studio versions… (in my experience)
