“Last Thursday Apple announced that Final Cut Pro 10.4.1 would be available today,” Alex4D reports.
“The specification page for Final Cut Pro, Motion and Compressor states that the minimum requirements have changed from macOS Sierra 10.12.6 to macOS High Sierra 10.13.2 or later,” Alex4D reports. “In order to get today’s free updates for Final Cut Pro, Motion and Compressor, your Mac must be running 10.13.2 or newer.”
“This means that Final Cut will have access to parts of macOS introduced in last year’s Apple Worldwide Developer conference – the most likely feature being added will be eGPU compatibility,” Alex4D reports.

I’m leaving the Mac for my pro needs with a beautiful $10,000 PC Workstation OF MY OWN WANTS, NEEDS AND DESIRES in a month or so. Got the money, got the will. Don’t have to take what’s offered me anymore just because OS X is on it. My Macs will fill a secondary production role.
Makes me real sad this has to happen. (But seriously another year and a half Apple?)
True. It’s so stupid having a rats nest of USB and Power cables laying around when you could slip a far faster ATA drive into a slot. And no, thunderbolt can never be faster than ATA because all thunderbolt drives are actually ATA drives going through a stupidly expensive adaptor.
I respect that you made the hard decision, and I hope things work out for you in WindowsLand. But don’t be a stranger! Your broadsides against Apple were part of a clamour of discontent that forced Apple to listen and start to change its ways. We still need that; we’ll always need it.. I hope for regular updates from you regarding the changeover, especially if you use Adobe products. Your comments could help out others who are still on the fence.
Thanks Herself. The way I’m figuring it is I’m giving Apple 2-4 years to get it together and maybe get past any architecture changes while I’m visiting and no longer worrying or angry in “Windowsland.” If I still have a need and they are making something worth considering by then well, who knows?
The exciting development today is how fast DaVinci is developing Resolve. Their compositor Fishion used to be separate (I know I had just bought it 🙁 ) but Resolve 15 was announced today and it will be part of their upgraded Resolve Editing/Fairlight/Fusion package for $299! That should give Adobe some nightmares! And Blackmagic has done their best for these apps to take advantage of the GPU & CPU, unlike Adobe.

Sorry I should have said how fast Blackmagic is developing their DaVinci Resolve Suite including Fushion. These guys are hot to trot in the industry!
Must have High Sierra? OMG. I haven’t “upgraded” to High Sierra because of all the issues with it. Now I can’t get the latest FCPX because I’m on one version back (Sierra) of the OS? Really?? Dafuq?!!?
