“The battle of the smart assistants continues, and while people seem to want to get more from using Siri, others seem to want to figure out how to turn Cortana off, and Google Assistant isn’t far behind,” Jonny Evans writes for Computerworld. “How can Apple exploit its advantages to push HomePod higher?”
“I’ve been digging through the latest interesting data from SEMRush, which shared their findings around search habits when it comes to voice assistants,” Evans writes. “The research shows that Siri is now the most searched intelligent personal assistant, both globally and in the U.S., and it also shows the sort of questions people are asking about all the assistants.”
“We know that the most popular questions people ask about Siri are what funny things it says, what it does, and how to get more out of it,” Evans writes. “hat compares with the kinds of questions people are asking about other voice assistants: People ask what Google Assistant is and how to switch it off. The top three queries made about Cortana are basically three different ways of asking how to switch the feature off. Users ask what Bixby is and how to turn it off.”

With Apple now having poached Google’s A.I. chief John Giannandrea, we expect Siri to get much smarter, more quickly and take back the personal assistant lead from Alexa in both public perception and reality.

I preordered two and use them all over the house. One is paired to my Apple TV and stays in our two story great room. It always sounds the best.
I fear Apple will never catch Amazon and google now. Apples own silly paranoia about privacy has hamstrung them in this. One guy won’t change that. The difference ca be explained like this:
Imagine walking into a bedroom and shouting ‘good morning, what’s for breakfast?’ Amazon and Alexa are sitting in bed, on top of the covers with little tails wagging and happily shout back ‘ what would you like sir?’ Siri is asleep. And starts to stir before asking..’ what time is it?’
It was funny when Siri said “I love a good countdown” after setting a timer. But it is tedious now. And though Siri starts a timer well enough it’s useless for anything else.
An opportunity lost…
Apple is not the company it used to be…
I hope Apple doesn’t lose a great potential speaker system chasing after the alleged holy grail personal assistant.

This is the kind of statement that shows how delusional MDN is. Alexa has been so far ahead of Siri for years now, and there’s no reason to believe Siri is suddenly going to become an Alexa threat because of one new hire. Siri is available as a standalone on one overpriced $349 speaker — Alexa is available on 7 standalone products starting at $49, and integrated for free into many other speakers, TVs, and clock radios. With Apple’s price point and sluggish Siri development, I see no reason Siri would catch up to Alexa anytime soon.
