“Apple is releasing the first-ever software update for HomePod since its debut,” Guilherme Rambo reports for 9to5Mac.
“The new software update comes alongside iOS 11.3 for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. HomePod can be updated automatically or prompted through the Home app after updating to iOS 11.3,” Rambo reports.
Rambo reports, “To be able to update your HomePod, make sure you update your iPhone or iPad first, since it’s likely that the update needs to be done from an iOS device running the same operating system version [to which] you want to update the accessory.”

I updated mine while at work (remotely via Home app). Wife is home, so I hope it isn’t freaking out and laughing at her, lol. Update went ok as far as I could tell. Really nice to be able to update without being there.
Seems snappier. It made my dong bigger, too.
But was it lemony fresh as well? HomePod is Ubik.
Homepods all updated fine but I get a message in the Home app: “2 Home hubs not responding
>Details-Can’t connect to Apple 4K TV 1 or Apple 4K TV 2”
All the Homepods show up fine in the Home app though.
And I updated my Apple TVs and those both seem to work fine as well. So must be a bug in the Home app or Cloud somewhere?
Did you restart everything?

Error Message has disappeared in Home app as of this morning so something got refreshed.
If you value good sound quality PLEASE skip this HomePod update. I installed the update and noticed an immediate change in my HomePod sonic characteristics. For one, it seems that this update did at least two things: It “flattened the sound field by reducing the amount of reflective sound it allows and two, the base output has been decreased. Gawd, it sounds awful. There is no body or fullness to the sound anymore. Fortunately, I had originally purchased two HomePods in the hope that AirPlay 2 would be available so I could listen in stereo mode. When that didn’t happen, I just kept one of my HomePods “in the box” unused. Tonight, I unboxed it and installed it for the first time. What a difference in sound. I then changed my settings in the iOS home app so that software updates are NOT automatically installed. That setting is going to stay that way for a long time.
I don’t see the vlalue of Homepod without capable Siri.
