I want another Apple HomePod for sure, maybe two more

“I wrote last time that one of the tests of truly useful technology is how quickly it stops feeling like a luxury and starts feeling like something you wouldn’t want to live without,” Ben Lovejoy writes for 9to5Mac. “A month on, I can report that HomePod has definitely completed that transition.”

“That’s partly for smart home control. Siri is the most convenient way to control HomeKit devices, and the HomePod is hands-down the most reliable and convenient way to invoke it,” Lovejoy writes. “The HomePod can hear you from further away than any other device, and it’s the only thing that can understand you while music is playing.”

“The sound quality is really good. Good enough that I’ve been perfectly happy with it for casual and background listening,” Lovejoy writes. “The upshot of all this is that I definitely want a second HomePod for the bedroom, and have this high on the list for when we finally stop spending money on home improvements. And, once stereo pairing is available, I’ll be very tempted to add a second HomePod to form our main music system, with the B&O used only for active rather than background listening. That’s something I would never have imagined until I used it day in, day out.”

MacDailyNews Take: Same here. As soon as stereo pairing and multi-room audio arrive, we’ll be ordering more HomePod units, too!

  1. Exactly what I was thinking. I need another for the living room stereo pair, and one more for the bedroom, but I’d like the bedroom one to be even smaller, a HomePod mini that costs less.

    1. I have yet to figure out how to get my first HomePod to fit. There were no straps, or belts and I can’t can’t imagine it’s supposed to just sit on the top of your head? It sounds great but my arms get tired. I can’t be the only one with this experience?

  2. I have 5 total now in various rooms, garage, patio, etc. Love love them and haven’t really needed the multi-room or stereo yet but will be glad when it arrives to play with.

  3. ok, ok, I’m in… especially after getting the AirPods. They connect immediately – did you get that – immediately when the case is opened (unlike the Beats X). And, most importantly, the are the best sounding earphones I’ve heard.
