Apple’s macOS and iOS market share both increased in February

“According to the latest market share survey from NetMarketShare, the market share for both macOS and iOS both increased last month,” Dennis Sellers reports for Apple World Today.

“According to the report, among desktop operating systems, macOS had 8.41% of the global market share in February, up from from 8.21% percent in December (that’s global market share; in the U.S. it’s over 13%),” Sellers reports. “iOS had 29.59% in January, up from 29.52% in December.”

“NetMarketShares’ monthly surveys don’t measure market share in terms of computer systems sold,” Sellers reports. “Instead they sample data from visitors to some 40,000 web sites operated by their clients.”

MacDailyNews Take: This more like usage share than market share (unit share), but it’s useful for seeing trends and the trend is towards Apple and away from knockoffs of Apple products (Windows and Android).

  1. The nosedive Windows PCs has taken in the last 6-7 years has been amazing. The Millennial generation seems largely wedded to their phones- they walk into shit staring at the damn screen and not just at Apple Park.

The sad part is that Windows 10 Professional is probably the best version of the OS Microsoft has ever shipped after a rocky start. It gets more secure and stable even as Mac OS becomes less secure and stable. I have it installed on my Mac via Parallels and it is not perfect, but is damn good for Windows.

Apple could sell more Macs if they spent some time and money keeping the Hardware updated and spent a little more time on SW Quality Control. When is the pastime you saw a Mac ad on TV.

Here is a complete listing of the Get A Mac Ad campaign. It has been a long time ago.

  2. Market the macs a bit. There’s not even cheap web ads. 5 – 10 percent more sales a year compounded over Cooks 7 years and we would have had significant more billions in revenue as macs with neglect routinely make 5 billion or so every three months. Also Remember more sales = more developers.
